I was really delighted to know about d’ Good café and I didn’t’ knew there is such a cool place to have coffee at Holland Village. There are 3 entrances to the café. The café comprises of two levels (2nd & 3rd). On the second level, it is very cozy furnished with rocking chairs and with two swings attached at the front for your enjoyment of coffee which sitting on a swing. I thought this idea was really interesting. The coffee counter is located at the 2nd level too at the other side adjacent. You actually can smell the strong coffee aroma when you just arrived at this café. There is also alfresco outdoor sitting at the third level balcony if you prefer as well as child friendly seating indoors at the third level. To my amaze, the coffee came in different kind of Coffee art when it was served. There were swan, cat, bear and lion. I ordered a Hazelnut latte ($5.50) and I love how the coffee tastes as well. The acidity level is just nice and I can drink it without sugar. Tried the Egg benedicts, Japanese curry, Fresh Sea Prawn Aglio Olio, d’Good Maple Sea Salt Cheesecake ($8) & d’Good Triplet Cheesecake ($8). The cheesecakes left me a deeper impression. Really love especially the Maple Sea Salt Cheesecake and how it tasted. It was delicious and maple sea salt flavour is unique because usually you will hear about caramel sea salt instead. If you are interested in coffee cupping and, it is also available which I find it quite interesting as well. Cause the barrister will brew the coffee in front of you and adjust the taste according to your preference. This café is really worth checking out!

Red Velvet Ice Cream Smile May 31, 2013

I was elated when I know that Cold Stone Creamery has Red Velvet ice cream. I adore Red Velvet in general and I enjoy Red Velvet of any kind from cupcakes to pancakes. It was good to know that this ice cream flavour is available. I ordered the medium cup with waffles. I got to choose two toppings as well. The toppings comprises of Reese's peanut buttercups, almonds, gummy bears, Mars' chocolate and many more. I chose the biscuit crumbs and a bar of Kit Kats and the person helped me mix it in. Paid about 9 bucks for this. It ain't cheap but I left the shop feeling happy and satisfied. Usually there will be a long queue at this outlet at certain times. I guess it must be the hot weather in Singapore and people still like to enjoy their cup of ice cream.

I went to Nook to try on their pancakes as I heard that they have the red velvet pancake there, so I was there to try! This place is located quite secluded, a little bit hard to find. Anyway, both me and my friend ordered a red velvet pancake, an omelette, two flavoured pancake (Pandan & Strawberry) which comes in three toppings which we chose the banana, peanut butter and cream cheese. We also ordered coffees to go along with the pancakes. Overall, it was fun making the pancakes and I really enjoyed the novelty. Omelette was alright, too salty though. It was really too filling for us cause we ordered too much. It will be more worth it if there were more people to visit this place together. As for the service, it wasn't really good, I am not very particular to these things but somehow that day I realised the staff there put on a black face for some reasons when we asked to order food and were not very accommodating and friendly.

I have finally had the chance to try out Aoki restaurant and I was really delighted as I adore Japanese food. This restaurant serves authentic Japanese food. My friends and I actually went for lunch and already decided that I wanted to have the Chirashi set ($35++ lunch) since I saw many reviews raving it. When you enter, you realized the restaurant’s ambience and concept is very unique. We were ushered to the seat inside a cabin with sliding doors. It seems like you are eating inside a train. The set came with some appetizing salad and small portion of cabbage vegetable. The salad was accompanied by sesame sauce with thinly sliced translucent radishes and cucumbers; it was really the good chopping skill from the chef to achieve such effect. Then came the chirashi, it was filled with raw salmon, tuna, clams, fish egg roe, squid and many more. The rice portion was actually less than the ingredients, so it was really worth it. After which, the dessert came in a small tray, there were strawberry ice cream, plum jelly and pudding. I love the ice cream the best actually. Anyway, I like everything about this place except the fact that I have limited time to eat perhaps it is also because that I am a slow eater. There were actually two sessions from 12pm to 1.30pm and 2pm to 3.30pm. We went for the earlier session but then I felt that the waitress was trying to clear the plates and serve us soonest possible so that we can eat and leave soon. I feel that it was kindda rush in my opinion but I think that they couldn’t help it cause they needed time to prepare for the session. Overall, worth a try, a little pricey but you will not regret after tasting the food there.

Rajah Inn restaurant serves personal mini steamboat individually apart from porridge buffets. You get to choose your soup-based and order the ingredients or food from the menu. There are a wide variety to choose from mushroom, fish balls to cuttlefish balls, beef, pork, prawn and chicken; almost all the usual steamboat dishes are available. There are choices from chicken herbal soup, Spicy Tom Yam and Spicy “Ma La” soup. I tried the chicken herbal soup. There are mixtures of cooked and uncooked food to order from. The restaurant also offer cooked dishes such as tahu telor, sotong squid and fry kang kong vegetables. You will be spoit for choices and whats more it is really affordable. I paid only about $24++ during weekend for the entire meal so it’s really worth it.
