Fantastic Food, Nice Ambience Smile Jul 30, 2014

We came here for lunch and there was not much crowd. No wonder this restaurant has rave reviews. The food is so tasty.

We ordered the mini portion of aglio olio (turned out very small!), tomato bruschetta, ravioli, and avocado torte for the dessert.

The tomato bruschetta was very nice. I really like the balance of the flavours and it had different layers of taste; sweet, salty, and sour on the first bite and the fragrant taste from the olive oil kicked in. The baguette was toasted very well too, it was crunchy and soft.

The aglio olio was unlike the normal, boring one, but it was tossed in chili oil and fragrant garlic slices and mixed with some kind of soy sauce. This dish is definitely a must-try! I regret that I ordered the mini one and not the full portion.

There's nothing much to comment about the ravioli. It's pretty decent, but nothing special about it.

The Torte with Avocado Gelato was kinda disappointing. They so-called 'torte' is nothing but a thin layer of dense cake at the bottom. Alas! The gelato wasn't nice either. It was just like eating whipped cream with bland frozen ice. Definitely needs some improvements.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with the food and the service of this restaurant. I will definitely come back for more!

Despite waiting for 15 minutes on a weekday (and for lunch, mind you), the food certainly worth the wait. We ordered creamy salmon spaghetti and spaghetti served with shredded duck meat.

The creamy salmon spaghetti was very rich, cheesy, and creamy. Well, probably not the healthiest but who cares if it tasted great? tongue

The spaghetti was served with shredded duck meat. This one was spicy but didn't overpower the overall taste of the dish. It was fragrant and the herb mixture was awesome.

Value for money set lunch Smile Jul 30, 2014

I was expecting a long queue since it's a new establishment but there were only few people ahead of us.

We ordered their set lunch menu which included mini ramen, side dish, and dessert.
For the ramen, we chose Chabuton Shio Ramen and Chabuton Signature Tonkotsu Ramen.

I personally think that their Shio ramen broth was tastier than their signature tonkotsu ramen. The broth was light and not oily. The noodle was cooked nicely, not too soft and not too hard.

For the side dish, you can choose between tori kaarage, gyoza, and potato croquette. The dish we ordered were gyoza and croquette. They were pretty tasty.
For the dessert

One thing I need to compliment was their wonderful service. The servers were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. It's something we seldom see in Singapore. Kudos!

Great Food Great Place Smile Jul 31, 2014

Nestled around the vicinity of Little India, this cafe occupies the ground floor of Kam Leng Hotel. The cafe itself is quite small, but cosy, with a bar at one of the corners.

They have different menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We ordered Chicken Parmigiana Sandwich, Poached Eggs with Spinach and Potato Cakes, and the Suprette Burger. My first impression was that the portion was huge!

The Chicken Parmigiana Sandwich filling was very fulfilling and tasty. The french fries was perfectly fried and not too salty.

The Poached Eggs with Spinach and Potato Cakes was mediocre, nothing special about it. It was served with slices of toast and bacon streaks.

Again the portion for this Suprette Burger was huge. The patty was fresh and juicy, combined with the melted cheese, making it the perfect burger.

Creative Menu, Cosy Place Smile Jul 31, 2014

When I first stepped into this cafe, I felt like I was inside a tree house. The decor dominates by the wooden features which include a tree in the middle of the room and quirky fridge on one side. The cafe is cosy and it's a great place to hang out.

One thing quite unique about this place is that they change the menu every fortnightly. So everytime you visit, you might find something different on their menu.

We ordered two dishes; beef sandwich and beef burger. The beef sandwich was actually served in burger style with chunks of beef in the middle and taco chips on the side. The beef was tough and it was quite difficult to bite. On the other hand, the beef burger was delicious. The patty was fresh and we could tell that it was hand-made. The patty was juicy and flavourful.

The highlight of the night was their pies. I tried the chocolate mousse pie with marshmellow on top of it. The pie was nice and it wasn't too sweet either. With their menu changing every two weeks, perhaps I'd go back to this little cosy cafe again...
