Going Italian for Brunch OK May 27, 2015

Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Brunch

Procacci is an Italian restaurant located at Customs House, Collyer Quay. The restaurant faces the marina bay and the iconic Marina Bay Sands. It has indoor and alfresco dining. Brunch started in May and are available only on Saturdays.

Uova Strapazatte con funghi which is basically scrambled eggs, saute mushrooms, rustica toast and saute spinach at a cost of $20. The toast was abit overtoasted resulting it being hard. Love the eggs and mushrooms which were beneath, absorbed all the flavors of everything on top. Sink your teeth into the funghi, it explodes and the juices ended so flavorful & delish.

Fritatte al Tarturo. This dish seems to be most of the tasters favorite. The pull factor had to be the truffle cream topped generously over the egg frittata and accompanied by ciabatta toast.
If you love truffles, this dish is a must try must order. I am pretty neutral on this as I am not a big fan of truffles But judging from fellow tasters who had a second helping, it must be delish Cost of this dish is $22.

Pollo Grigliato. This is my favorite simply because it had the oh so sinfully good crispy bacon. Grilled chicken breast to perfection, fried egg when cut open, the yolk runs out and oozes all over. Yup yup... soak up all the goodness with ciabatta toast and place the crispy bacon on top This is brunch heaven!! For this yummy dish, it goes at a cool $20.

Fumo Salmone. Salmon lovers would enjoy this. Smoked salmon with fried egg paired with ricotta cheese and ciabatta toast. The salmon just slides in your throat leaving a delightful smoky aftertaste on your palette. I would say move over fried egg and ricotta cheese, smoked salmon takes centrestage. Cost at $20.

Procacci Delizia consist of mortadella, parma ham, taleggio cheese, scrambled eggs and rustico toast. A big platter meant to be shared by 2 or more. This dish to me is normal if compared to pollo grigliato or fumo salmone which had more "oomph". Cost at $30.

Salsiccia Italiano. What is brunch without sausages? This i liked. The big fat salty spicy italian sausage wakes up your sense of taste. Nicely grilled with juices intact. 1st bite and you will definitely need a napkin after that. I prefer to eat this with a soft butter roll than the rustico toast. $20 for sausage goodness.

Procacci surprised us with a bottle of italian wine which most enjoyed tremendously. I am not a drinker so I enjoyed the clinking of glasses but the wine looked real good.

The Procacci folks responsible for hosting our brunch. Thank you for the good food and good service. Also thank you Openrice for the invite.

Le Halo is a small cafe located in Bukit Ho Swee. The lady owner prepares her food lovingly from scratch. Her signature dishes are the pork burgers and the piggy stew.
Juicy pork patties topped with crispy streaky bacon and heavily drizzled with homemade bbq sauce (owner's own recipe).
The piggy stew is slowly stewed for hours. Perfectly toasted bread is provided for dipping. Meat so tender, it melts in your mouth.
If like me, you adore cook on site food..then this quaint family cafe is a must visit.

Hearty Chowders for the soul Smile Aug 17, 2015

The flagship store is located at Parkway Centre across from Parkway Parade, Marine Parade. Very informal and alfresco dining where you can just go in your tees, bermudas and flipflops.

Served in a bread bowl, this chowder stuffed with chopped ocean clams, potatoes, celery, onion, thyme, white pepper, seasalt, clam stock, half n half, butter n flour. Thick, creamy and robust texture which can easily fill your tummy. The bread bowl was unfortunately over toasted which resulted it being hard and tough, even pulling out the white "flesh" from the bread proved to be a challenge. Chowder could do with less salt. Regretfully to make a mention, I bit into a tiny piece of clam shell which fortunately didnt do damage. Perhaps it was an oversight for this particular serving.

After having the clam chowder, i find that the seafood bisque with plentiful ingredients of salmon, cod, crab, bay shrimp in a tomato basil cream broth tasted quite similar to the clam chowder except that it was slightly tomatoey. Quite salty so it is best to eat it with bread.

The smoked salmon chowder which was cooked down with cream cheese, capers, potoatoes, onion, celery and tomatoes, is my favorite among the 3. Not as thick & creamy, it leaves a very distinctive smoked salmon taste on the palette. Not overpowered by the cream cheese & capers, the smokyness and the saltyness were well balanced. Highly recommended if you love that "

Seattle Pike Chowder serves creamy seafood soups by Larry Mellum, the award winning ladle of New England & seafood bisques in US.
Comes in small, medium and large at $8.90, $11.90 & $12.90 respectively. Ingredients are imported from Seattle.
So if you crave for authentic seattle chowders, head on down to their store at Parkway Centre. Sometimes a hot steaming chowder is all you need!😄
