Collective brewers @ Changi Road Cry Jun 07, 2015

Categories : Café

Happened to be in the area in the evening one day and we decided to drop by this cafe serving a dinner menu. Collective Brewers is located along Changi road and if you are not observant, you would just miss this quaint little cafe.

So how was dinner?

Har Cheong Gai

One word - salty, but if you dipped it in the chilli provided, it tasted a little better.

Fried dough fritters

I quite liked this dried dough. You can't go wrong with fried stuff can you? The dip was a good accompaniment.

Pulled pork burger

hardly the best pull pork around. Spammed with bbq sauce, you don't taste the smokiness of the pork, or did they even smoke it ? disappointing to say the least.

Pandan chicken

We were surprised at the name of the dish and expected something amazing. Unfortunately, it too came out blend with just a hint of pandan flavour. Thankfully the chicken patty was juicy. Fries were lovely though.

Waffle fever has yet to slow down on our sunny island and another waffle bar has popped up in the basement of 313 somerset. Run by this young couple, they bring creative waffle ideas to the masses. We decided to give these stick doughs a try.

Serving modern european cuisine with a local touch, Three bistro wine bar is one of many new bistros that has opened in the newly furnished marina square. A great place to chill after work, it serves a variety of wine, beers and liquors coupled with live band on certain days.

Roasted Tomato Delight

Tomato roasted with garlic, zucchini and fresh herbs. Very refreshing after a long day's work and before you start on your drinks.

Oven baked escargots

braised escargots baked with garlic butter and cheese. Could taste more garlic then the escargots, but also a way to paper off the somewhat snailish after taste.

Grilled Foie Gras

Not a fan of Foie Gras but this was quite nicely done. Served with a charcoal bun and maple syrup, the sweetness compliments the fatty goose liver and the charcoal bread absorbs the melted fats in your mouth.

Sirloin Steak

The table felt it could be better. Married with black better sauce, the slab of beef wasn't up to the mark which we expected it to be, prolly one of those nights.

Swiss Rosti with Trio Sausages

Rosti was perfectly done. Crispy outside, yet filled with potatoes as a whole. A great plate to share with friends. Bratwurst, Chorizo and Chipolata sausages accompanies the rosti and it was one of the better dish we had.

the drinks (awesome)

wholly crab @ satay by the bay OK May 23, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Hawker Centre | Seafood

Felicia Chin has done it again. Her second venture into the food business throws up a hawker-cajun style seafood feast. Located at satay by the bay, this louisiana themed stall has been attracting all kinds of stars and fans of felicia.

relatively simple menu, choose your size, either S$60 or S$120, choose your sauces - cheese, kung pow, laksa, marmite or spicy tomato, and you wait patiently at your table for a bucket to arrive.

similar to cajun kings and dancing crab, a bucket will arrive here and piak, it goes onto your table and as we foodies say, let the feast begin. You will find crabs, shellfish and even sausages whilst using your hands to devour the mess on your table.

tao seafood @ asia square OK May 10, 2015

Categories : Asian Variety | Singaporean Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

Tao seafood is celebrating mother's day by whipping up some of Mrs Lee's favourite dishes. Yes, Mrs Lee is the wife of head chef Lee Tong Kuon and during this period, Tao seafood will be offering dishes that are well liked by the madam herself.what are the dishes? read more below!

Salted egg yolk fish skin

crispy fish skin married with curry leaves and salted egg yolk. More of the salty version rather than the sweet one, but it got the table salivating.

Chilled drunken chicken

Chicken braised in chinese wine and then chilled before being served. This dish brings back memories of traditional chinese cuisine. A hearty dish which goes well with their tao's blend of green chilli sauce

Stream egg with coconut juice

Coconut juice in steam egg? The first time I've tasted such a unique dish and there was even crab meat inside. It was definitely lovely. The salmon roe though made the dish a tad fishy which irked me, otherwise one spoonful wasn't enough.

Chef Lee's Wok Fried Prawns

Dish of the night. A combination of oyster sauce, fish sauce and garlic, these huge half shelled prawns were wok fried and served pipping hot. Fragrant and tasty, that wok-hei taste was also slightly apparent.

Special Orh Nee (3Hands)
