The store owner used to own Teck Hin Hor Fun in Ghim Moh till a few years ago when he sold the business.
He now runs this congee stall that also sells steamed items such as Chee Cheong Fun and Glutinous Rice.
I frequent this stall almost every weekend.
My favorite orders are:
- Chee Cheong Fun: Plain chee cheong fun steamed and the chef adds his fried garlic infused oil over it. Just eaten on its own, its tasty enough. You also get the usual brown sweet sauce and chilli on the side. You can opt for 2 or 3 rolls of chee cheong fun.
- Glutinous Rice: This is very tasty and has dried shrimp and chinese sausage in it. Topped with fried shallots and fried peanuts Its very good!
- Congee: The congee is very smooth, typical of the ones you eat at fine Cantonese restaurants. You have a choice of Century Egg with pork or Fish. Both are good. Its sold for $1.80 and really value-for-money!
Highly recommended!

Good Kway Chap at Ang Mo Kio! Smile Nov 12, 2014

A friend of mine brought me here for lunch recently and I was in for a treat.
This kway chap stall is located in a food court located at the bottom of a HDB black. This is also the car park that serves the popular Mellben crab beehoon that has a strong following.
The queue was about 8 people deep and it took about 10 minutes before it was our turn to order. It's self service, so you have to take the food to your own table.
Here are the highlights of our meal:
- Pork innards and egg: No off-putting smell/ taste when you bite into the large intestines, which means its well-cleaned and it was also well braised in the soya sauce. It is good!
- Mixed Platter (Small Intestines, Tau pok, pork belly): We fininshed everything on the plate. Nice!
- Salted Vegetables: Small serving for two of us. But it was more than sufficient. It was saltier than the ones I ate elsewhere and it was stewed with pork belly.
- The Kway (Flat White noodles): It was good and I had a second bowl! Recommended to eat as fast as you can, as it turns dry even though it is soupy.
The food is good and I will definitely be back again.
They also sell mixed pork soup and have white rice, if you are not into noodles.
Highly recommended!

This store has been operating opposite Clementi Central for a long time, before shifting to Holland Village, at the hawker centre on Holland Drive.
They operate only at night.
Their claypot rice is cooked the old-fashioned way, over a charcoal fire. When you peer into the stall, you see a whole row of charcoal fire stoves. There is a system, where the strongest fire is at one end, while the weakest fire is at the opposite end. The son of the stall-owner (2nd generation) helps his father with the cooking of the claypot rice.
It is easy to order: $10 for 2 pax, $15 for 3 pax, $20 for 4 pax... all increments of $5. You can also ask for more ingredients to your order, at $5!
They also have double-boiled soups, watercress soup, etc as well as poached green vegetables with oyster sauce.
Do come early, as the wait can go from 30 - 45 minutes during peak dining hours!

Good food In A Hidden Location! Smile Nov 10, 2014

It has been a while since I last visited and I came by last weekend with the family.
They have a range of signatures on the wall, ranging from pastas to meat dishes.
What I like about this place is that they constantly innovate new dishes, so you never get bored with their food offerings.
- Truffle Fries: Comes in a big bowl, where shoe string fries are fried and drizzled with truffle oil and served with mayonnaise. Kids loved it.
- Spaghetti Bolognese: My regular order. Spaghetti with minced beef and The children loved it!
- Jumbo Lump Crab Pasta: The pasta has loads of lump crab meat in it, with asparagus, black olive, tomato, onion, lemon and topped with prawn roe. Its done similar to alio olio style. Not bad.
- Salmon in Filo pastry with mushroom creamy sauce: My favourite dish for the meal. You have piece of salmon encased in filo pastry and baked. It is topped with mushroom, broccoli and cheese cooked in a creamy mushroom sauce. A healthy and delicious dish!
- Chocolate cake with salted caramel and macaroon: Layered chocolate cake with cream and topped with salted caramel and a macaroon. A good ending to a good meal with the family.
A good place to bring your family and friends. But do make a reservation, as they do get busy, to avoid disappointment.

Burlamacco 2nd Anniversary Lunch Smile Nov 10, 2014

Burlamacco is 2! I saw a 2nd anniversary email from the restaurant and went by last weekend.
The restaurant is located along Amoy Street, near Tanjong Pagar is a conserved shophouse. It has modern interiors and is nicely appointed with huge paintings of modern art portraits. It also has a walk in glass cellar with a wide variety of wines to choose from.
Here are the highlights of my meal:
1) Parma Ham wrapped around Griscini Stick: A savoury lollipop, with the parma ham wrapped around a biscuit stick. You can’t stop at one, for sure.
2) Smoked Salmon with Baked Cracker topped with sour cream and caviar: Very good. The sour cream and caviar complimented the smoked salmon well.
3) Hand Chopped Tuna Tartare served with Avocado: Unlike tuna tartare I ate elsewhere which is more finely chopped, this was roughly chopped into 5cm pieces and seasoned. Topped with avocado pieces, it was good. Recommended!
4) Squid Ink Risotto: As black as a night’s sky, the risotto was simply served on a white plate. The photo I took doesn’t do justice to the taste and flavour of the dish. It was simple and often the simplest dishes are the hardest to do. Couldn’t get enough of the dish. It was good!
5) 48 hour Sous Vide Braised Beef Short Rib: The beef was very tasty and flavourful, thanks to the 48 hour cooking period. Tender and comes apart easily when cut. The mash potato was also good and the beef jus was delicious.
6) Warm Valrhona Chocolate Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream: Think warm molten lava chocolate cake, and this was what came to my mind. The same ingredients are used to fill the tart shell. Topped with vanilla ice cream, it was a great dessert to end the meal. Must-order!
The food I had are signature dishes of the restaurant and I can see why they are popular.
A good place for Italian cuisine. Try it!
