Delicious Japanese cuisine Smile Apr 12, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

We were in the mood for some Japanese food on Easter Sunday, so we decided on Meguni Restaurant as the venue for our Easter dinner :-). Megumi was recommended to us by our friends, so we went there. We had to take a bus from Clementi MRT.

Megumi Restaurant is located at Sunset way in an HDB setup,a longside many other good restaurants. As we got off at the bus stop,we were wondering what kind of restaurant to expect. We were pleasantly surprised once we located the restaurant, which was not difficult to find.

It is a lovely restaurant, with a sit-out as well as an indoor seating arrangement. Red seemed to be the theme of the restaurant. The place has beautiful japanese paintings all over. A neat & impressive bar at 1 corner. We finally decided to take a corner table. We were guided to our table by the 'Ever friendly Staff',wearing maroon outfits, who were really warm, courteous & welcomed us with a big smile. We were handed the Menu & we took some time to go through it before placing our order.

We ordered for Yaki Meshi (Japanese Fried rice), Bacon Hotate Yaki, Miso Shiro (soup) & fried ice cream for dessert. The Miso Shiro arrived first. It was a Miso soup, served warm, with a very distinct flavour. It was a good start to the meal. Then came Bacon Hotate Yaki & Yaki Meshi. The Bacon Hotate was Bacon wrapped scallops, served on a skewer with teriyaki sauce. Being bacon lovers, we loved the bacon wraps. The Japanese fried rice was also excellent. It was a normal chicken & egg fried rice with some vegetables. We had it with a dry chilli & pepper powder mix. We loved the fried rice so much, that we ordered it twice & requested for it to be spicy. We ate to our hearts content & finally finished off with a Vanilla fried ice cream. The fried ice cream was the best fried ice cream I've ever eaten. It was crispy & hard from the outside & soft & cold on the inside.

I loved the buzzers placed on every table, wherein we could press the buzzer to place an order, or to request for the bill. The food prices are reasonable but the portions are small. I have to admit the food is really tasty & the staff treat you royally and you will never regret dining there. It was a super duper dining experience for us. If you want to try Japanese cuisine in Singapore, Megumi Restaurant is the BEST smile.

Best steaks in town Smile Mar 26, 2012

Categories : Singaporean Western | Steaks and Grills

A friend of mine had recommended that we try the Steaks at Grill out, so on sunday evening we decided to go there. We had to take a bus from Clementi MRT station, and as we were going,we were wondering, why is the restaurant located in a secluded area.

But once we reached there, we were surprised to see that there were a bunch of good restaurants in an HDB set up,the whole level 1 had restaurants serving different cuisines & all along side each other. We finally managed to find Grill- out. We were very impressed with the ambience. It had a sit out arrangement with easy chairs, dim lights, Red seemed to be the colour of the place, and there were chimes around, making a very soothing sound and it created a perfect ambience for a chilled out weekend meal.

We ordered for Pork spare ribs & Sirlion beef steak, they were served with mushroom soup & bread/butter. The soup was good. We simply loved the Pork spare ribs and decided to get messy & use our hands to eat it, it was rightly grilled, it was juicy, had the right sauces & was really delicious. The Sirlion beef steak was served with pepper sauce and was well cooked & juicy too. We had a pitcher of beer which made our experience more enjoyable. The portions were good. Finally we were given wet tissues to wipe our messy hands after chewing onto the tender, juicy & tasty meats :-).

A complete vegetarian meal Smile Mar 26, 2012

Categories : Indian | Vegetarian

Generally we go out to dine on a friday night, this time, we had some shopping to be done at Mustafa centre in Little India, so we decided to have dinner in Little India. We went to Namaste India, we reached there at 10 pm, so we were the only ones in the restaurant since it was so late. The ambience is lovely. We had a look at the menu, which was very impressive. It had a mix of north Indian & south Indian dishes. There was a variety to choose from, but since we were not in the mood to have a heavy meal,we ordered for Hara bhara kababs, Namaste Chaat & a tomato soup. The soup was excellent. The Hara bhara kababs too were very tasty, they were more like veg cutlets and were served with chutney. The Namaste chaat was the best, it was filled with curd, sev, puris, potatoes, Chutney, mild spices etc & was simply tasty that I wpied off the entire plate :-). The food prices are every reasonable & the food is simply great. I would definately suggest Namaste India, when you are sick and tired of eating meats :-)

Chocolate eclair Smile Nov 20, 2012

Categories : American | Bakery

I was shopping at the Wisma Atria recently & happened to pass by Subway Niche & saw the tempting eclairs on display so decided to buy them. They cost just 3 for 1.6 $. I picked up 3 & started eating them. They were so chocolaty, creamy, smooth & soft. I had no idea, we can get such good eclairs in Singapore for so cheap. They just melted in the mouth. I guiltily finished all 3 & enjoyed every bite of them.

Our fav Nando's Smile Nov 20, 2012
Categories : Portuguese | Steaks and Grills

We recently went to Nando's for dinner, this time, besides the 1/4 chicken which is our normal order, we ordered for Chicken livers. The 1/4 chicken was great, like it usually is. The Chicken liver was simply delicious, it was prepared with Nando's peri peri sauce. It wasn't too spicy, had gravy & tasted yummy. I am a chicken liver fan so really enjoyed it. Im glad I tired the Chicken liver for a change. For sides we ordered Mediterranean rice, fries, coleslow & 3 bean salad. We also ordered for bottomless Iced tea. The bill came upto 40$ for 2 pax.
