We were in Clarke Quay check out the Halloween celebrations last weekend. We stopped at Octapas for some drinks & food. We ordered for Sex on the beach, Long Island Iced tea & Spanish fly cocktails. For finger foods we ordered for some garlic bread & Bacon wrapped prawns in Tomato salsa.

The Sex on the beach was vodka based with orange schnapps, orange & cranberry juice. It was a strong cocktails & tasted great.

Long Island Iced tea was a mix of vodka, rum, gin with lime juice & Pepsi. This is a very strong drink & tasted great as well.

Spanish fly is more of a lady's drink is a mix of Vodka, peach Schnapps, blue curacao & 7 up. IT is a mild drink.

The bacon prawn wraps were great and had a yummy tomato salsa dip. They were served hot. The garlic bread was great as well.

Finally we ordered for Octamisu, which is basically tiramisu, which was the best. It was fresh, served cold & had a lovely coffee flavor.

The service was good. The bill came up to 100 odd $. Octapas is a little over priced.

On my way home from work, I stopped by toast Box for a quick local dinner. I was told that the Toast Box Laksa is amazing, so I decided to try it out. Truly enough it was awesome. It costs about 5-6$. It is a big bowl of Laska with prawns, crab meat, egg etc. The Laska soup was really yummy & spicy, there is a fresh coconut flavor to it. It was filling & is like a complete meal. I loved the Laksa at Toast Box & visited Toast Box again the following week for some more.

Sometime last month, when we were at Central mall, we decided to have dinner at Covelli Italian Bistro & Wine Bar. We made a reservation before going there. It is a neat, simple, yet classy fine dining restaurant. The staff were very friendly & welcoming. We took a corner table. The place was not crowded, probably since we reached there just 30 mins before closing time. We straight away ordered for a Lasagna and Risotto Zafron. The food took about 15-20 mins to arrive. In the meanwhile we were served garlic bread. Our food finally arrived. The lasagna was typical made with mince & lasagna sheets. The garnishing was great with some yummy tomato sauce, it was great. The Risotto Zafron was a cheesy rissoto made with tiger prawns. The flavors were great, the rice was well cooked, the prawns tasted fresh & well cooked. it was cheesy as ever & I really enjoyed it. Overall it was a great dining experience. We paid about 35-40$ for our meal.

Indian food Smile Oct 29, 2012

One day after my shopping in little India, I went to Komala Vilas for a quick & light dinner. I ordered for Special wada. I actually wanted to have 2 samosas, but I went and had a look at the food on display & noticed this large pattie like thing and asked what it is & was told it is a special wada. It was quite big in size compared to normal wadas & can be had as dinner as it is quite fiilling. It is made up of pulses, onion, chillis & spices, ground together, made into a pattie & fried. It was served with 2 kinds of coconut chutney. Since it was a rainy evening & the weather was cold, I also had a cup of masala tea after my dinner. The tea was nice & had a strong masala flavor & aroma. My dinner at Komala Vilas costed me about 5-6$ only.

bowl When I was In Tampines mall I looked around for some Indian food & found Big bites. So I decided to have some Pau Bhaji for lunch, which is basically buttered bread served with the curry made of pureed vegetables, mainly mashed potato. The dish was served hot, it was medium spicy, it had a nice fragrance of pau bhaji masala. The portion served was good & filling. The price was about 5$. I love the food at Big bites, it has never disappointed me.
