Horrible Beef Horfun OK Nov 30, 2010

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Chinese | Café

I was still hungry after eating my bowl of so-so pai ku rice & notice my fren had half plate of delicious looking horfun left over, so I decided to clear it for her. The first bite was nice, the seasoning was good. By the 3rd bite, I already wanted to give up. It's tooooo oily! I felt like drinking oil every spoon I put into my mouth! No wonder my hungry fren only ate half of it.

With my intellectual brother in town, our outing became mind-engaging eating place like Mind Cafe.

The games were definitely fun with great selection, but the drink... we tried all of them & all taste sucks! The food was very so-so as well. We would rather jus pay to play games & ask them not to serve us anything haha. Like the reno though, a better branch than the clarke quay one.

Not bad OK Nov 30, 2010

Everything here was not bad, but not very impressive. I love their ice-cream & mochi though, I don't mind sitting down just for a dessert ;) My fren quite like the udon, my salmon sashimi was just alright. Service was ok, the place was cozy.

Overall everything was quite average~ good enough for a normal dinner, but not good enough cos we're here to celebrate a fren's BD!

I do love the reno here, it's really cozy & home-like, but the food at Vivo branch is disappointing to me. After queueing super long to just enter the place, we were greeted with the most oily rosti ever (which make me & another fren slight diarrhea afterwards). The pizza was just so-so. Perhaps the best thing was the Erdinger beer.

Definitely not worth the wait... the branch at 313Somerset would be a better choice.

I used to love Carl's Junior because the 1st branch I went to was the East Coast branch. Tat's relaxing, with the humongous meal size with ingredients that's seldom seen in SG, it feels like you're overseas.

Unfortunately the other branches, be it Marina Square, Plaza Sing or Vivo, they are all crowded with many ppl passing by & doesn't create an atmosphere that makes you want to go in & "enjoy" a meal. Tampines branch is better but it's too small.

Plaza Sing's very open concept is not appealing to me, being at the entrance of MRT & opp a stretch of food kiosks, there's always so many ppl (esp dinner time) passing by, queueing & squeezing that you can't focus on enjoying your food or chatting with good frens. Food & service cleanliness is ok, but just ok. Would only go when other frens have the craving for Carl's burger...
It's hard to enjoy with a too-open layout
