My friend suggested having pizza/ pasta for dinner, so we decided to head to Skinny Pizza at Wheelock Place, given that I had always passed by this outlet while on the way to MTM but never had the chance to taste its thinly crusted pizzas.

Although its signature pizza was the Squid Ink Pizza, we ordered a Smoked Turkey Swiss Pizza ($23++) instead as I can't take seafood.

The crust was really thin and crispy, and I liked it very much. However it felt a bit weird to put Smoked Turkey and Blueberries together on a pizza crust. tongue Both ingredients were great on its own, but when combined together, we just thought it's funny.

We heard a lot about the Truffle Fries that Skinny Pizza serves so we wanted to try it for ourselves. The waitress advised us to order the Truffle Fries and 1/2 metre long sausage set, as they have a $15++ promotion for 3 sides (we later realise the 1/2 metre long sausage was considered 2 sides).

When the fries came it didn't appeal to us that it was any special from other fries we have eaten elsewhere, and true enough, there was no "WOW" from either of us. Hence I didn't bother to take a picture LOL. The portion was not that big too, for an original price of $7++, don't think it's worthwhile. As for the 1/2 metre long sausage, it was cut into half and served into 2 portions for us separately. Original price for this sausage was $12++!

The sausage was quite nice, but became too salty as we ate. Imagine the fries portion was just the same size as this container for my sausage, expensive isn't it? Luckily we didn't order another pizza or pasta to share as we were very full by the time we finish all our food. tongue

I think next time if I visit Skinny Pizza again, I can skip the fries and sausage, just concentrate on eating the pizzas haha.

Great Set Lunch Smile Dec 08, 2011

Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Seafood

Found this set lunch deal with my colleague when we were trying to look for a place to lunch with shorter queue yet not too expensive meals.

Each set lunch is priced at $15++ per set, but we didn't take note of the specified days and time for this lunch deal. Anyway I ordered the Seared Dory Fillet as my main course, while my colleague ordered the Spicy Pork Linguine as her main course. We both asked for flavoured ice tea, which was apple tea that day. I had pumpkin soup while she had the soup of the day (cream broccoli).

According to her, the soup of the day was pretty normal, while I found my pumpkin soup lacked lustre. Probably not thick/ rich enough? But we had one common feel of the bread slice that came with the soup - it was quite coarse and not to our liking. tongue

The Flavoured Ice Tea was pretty unique, very strong tea taste and we had to add the syrup that was served separately so that it wouldn't feel so bitter.

My main course - Seared Dory Fillet was very good! Although when it was presented to me I thought the portion looked really small, but 1 bite into the fillet, it was "wow!". Even my colleague who only had a little bit to taste felt it was really good. The fillet was pretty fresh and the brown butter sauce was perfect. The roasted potatoes by the side were also nicely done.

Her main course, the Spicy Pork Linguine was nice too. I only tried a mouthful, and I could taste the white wine cream sauce. She couldn't finish the whole course as it was cooked in very creamy sauce.

Surprisingly we were very full after finishing our set meals, although the portions didn't look too big. But it was a great meal, & it's worth going back again. smile

We decided to eat at this Hong Kong Kim Gary Restaurant at Tampines 1 on a Saturday late afternoon, since it has been quite a while that I ate some Hong Kong cuisine. ;) It was 5+pm and the lunch special menu was still applicable as it is applicable till 6pm! Haha what a good way to save some $ by having an early dinner. tongue

I ordered the A-Mix Set Meal ($10.90++): grilled chicken steak, pork chop, sunny side up, ham, hotdog, black-pepper spaghetti and boiled vegetables. A small cup of cream soup was also served and I chose hot almond tea for my drink.

I think this set is very value for money. Delicious & filling too! Oh for those who may not be able to take spicy food very well, think twice before asking for black pepper sauce to go with your spaghetti. I take spicy food, but I find that the pepper got too spicy as I ate, and had to drink lots of water after eating to cool my tongue. tongue

If u happen to be at Vivo City or Tampines in the late afternoon, and feel hungry, maybe this restaurant will be a great place for you to satisfy your hunger pangs without burning a big hole in your wallet. smile

Yummy Katsu Curry! Smile Oct 13, 2011

Categories : Japanese

Was introduced to this great little Japanese restaurant at Takashimaya B2 by my dear friend who loves Japanese food. She told me that the Katsu Curry Rice here is great, even her Japanese friend also agrees that it is authentic. smile It's located in the food court area, but they have seats set aside for customers of this restaurant.

I ordered the Katsu Curry Teisyoku and liked it very much. They gave plenty of curry sauce (I didn't finish the sauce) which was quite smooth and very fragrant. In addition, you can choose your side, either the miso soup or salad, & I chose the salad. They were also generous with the amount of katsu on the plate, which was very crispy! A very full & satisfying meal indeed, for $15.50. smile

Tasty Crepes Smile Oct 09, 2011

Happened to see a 1-for-1 promotion at Saybons Junction 8 outlet for its Ham & Cheese crepe, and so 2 of us decided to grab a chance to try this out. The little outlet had about a dozen or so seats and it looks cosy.

Our crepes were served to us fresh from the oven, and I could feel the ham and cheese melting in my mouth as I bit into mine. The crepe was thinly sliced and very crispy.

A very yummy snack for tea, I must say! smile
