Dreadful. Cry Jun 07, 2011

Categories : American | Fast Food | Burgers and Sandwiches

I had never tried Subway breakfast neither did I have any clue of what's on their breakfast menu before this, but with some positive word of mouth from friends, I decided to give it a try.

I walked in to see some Subs such as Egg and Cheese, Bacon and Egg, Ham and Cheese...... I was hoping that the staple for breakfast would maybe be something more interesting like croissant or bagel but to my disappointment, they would once again be served on the various types of 6-inch loaf, just like lunch and dinner. I wanted to leave, honestly, but my boyfriend persuaded me to stay and I did.. bad choice, because the next thing I knew, I was biting onto a 6-inch Egg and Cheese Sub with veggies and honey mustard sauce for my first meal of the day. Healthy definitely but have I mentioned obviously tasteless, bland and too raw for a morning feeling for tastier food? That sandwich could also be made at home with a much better taste- like adding tomato based pasta sauce.

Not anyone's fault of course, since I made that decision myself. But never again would I step in for Subway's breakfast again, I'll be much safer with their lunch/dinner menu.

This restaurant serves Japanese food at casual dining standard. It's in the same comparison as food court pricing, except for its restaurant ambience, but of course, don't expect too much.

This is mean to say that firstly, getting of cutlery, napkins and water are all self-service, but that's alright. The furniture, both tables and cushions were a little sticky too. The food standard was barely average as well, cooked and edible surely but the passing mark was hardly there.

I ordered a hamburger steak that came with some stir-fry pork streaks, an egg, broccoli, potato wedges and mixed sweet corn/carrots. Honestly, they tasted poorer than airplane food. Visually, they looked like play dough. I'd say quantity and definitely not quality.

I don't remember what brought my boyfriend and I to Xin Wang Hong Kong Café once again, despite our bad experience at another outlet previously.

I won't say that it's a casual dining restaurant with one of the best services and food standard around, honestly there's nothing fanciful about it. Average food and pricing that don't match the food standard (if you know what I mean).

Anyway, I ordered a western course- black pepper pork chop with tomato based spaghetti. The pasta was a little overcooked, too soft and the tomato pasta sauce tasted like instant ones. The pork chop on the other hand, was really oily but bland and that particular piece (or is it every piece) was extremely fatty. Also, the black pepper sauce on it tasted... strange.

I was never quite a fan of Superdog. Paying Carl's Jr prices but for a least popular brand (in my opinion) and for hot dogs instead.. even though I ordered the grilled fish burger for my dinner. What you see on the menu, the hot dog buns and burgers, they are ala carte and already cost >$4.50. To have a meal, you'll have to top up $3.50-$5.50. I topped up $5.50 for a chili beef cheese fries with a drink.

The fish burger was normal, pretty dry and bland actually. The chili beef cheese fries were rather good though, like Carl's Jr's except they use cajun fries. To sum it up, I paid $10 for a fast food meal which was only substandard. Wouldn't return for a second time.

Grapefruit ice blended. Cry Apr 26, 2011

This Sweet Talk Branch is located within the Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station compound. Still, no drinks would be allowed in the train station of course.

I ordered the grapefruit ice blended as it was a new promotional item and I wanted to try it out. I didn't have it with bubble tea pearls but instead, just with some dried grapefruit slices that made it a 'snack drink'. I didn't request for less syrup and to my horror, it turned out sweetly overdosed.

I thought of going back down to ask the auntie to add some plain water to my drink but on second thought, I threw the other half away.
