This stall is like a push cart at the corner of North Canteen in Nanyang Polytechnic. It doesn't sell much, only a couple of varieties like popiah, rojak, curry fish balls and pancake.. supposed to be 'crispy pancake' but I ordered once and it turned out really soft, not in a way customers would want, it tasted 'kueh-like'. Honestly, this stall is kind of a flop.

Nevertheless, I wanted a light snack for tea break and went for the popiah anyway. I tried to be bold but I was right again, it didn't taste too good. The chilli didn't go well, the popiah was tiny and the boiled turnip was bland. Thank god it only cost a dollar.

Verdict? WAY too sweet. Cry Apr 20, 2011

This frozen yogurt stall is tucked away at the corner of B2, on the same floor as where you'd tap out from the circle line station (very near to BreadTalk). I'm not sure how many flavors they do have usually but when I was there last Sunday with my family, there were 4 options to choose from: Natural, Chocolate, Mixed Berries and Mango & Peach.

This place does the 'self-swirl and pay by the weight' concept, I have never quite liked the idea of that (unless the yogurt is good) because everything adds up and before you know it, it cost me $7 for a cup of froyo that wasn't even half-filled. I basically swirled just a little of 2 flavors each plus add a handful of blueberries topping. Well to begin with, my intention was just to try out this brand's yogurt.

Side note, it's $0.30 per every 10 grams.

I'm not complaining, anyway.. just saying that the self-swirl concept IS fun but definitely tricky. I would be more than happy to pay if their yogurt was of better quality. The sugar content in their yogurt is surely way too sweet. I could feel the sugar lingering on my tongue after I was half-done. Yes, I threw the other half away.

I am never again going to purchase yogurt from this place.

Not too good this time. Cry Apr 19, 2011

Is it just me or is Burger King's standard dropping? Perhaps it's just this branch, I hope. Burger King here isn't too crowded on weekdays during lunch hours, maybe because it's fast food and that can be commonly found everywhere, I suppose we'd all prefer to have better hot food for lunch if we can.

I met my friends for lunch as they are currently having their internship. We tried our best to look for seats elsewhere but to no avail and had to settle for Burger King. I had the grilled chicken burger meal. It was just a piece of oil-soaked grilled chicken sandwiched between two fluffy soft-dough buns with a slice of melted cheese and lettuce. It wasn't too good as the chicken tasted bland yet salty (as ironic as it sounds, but y'know...), overall the burger wasn't juicy either and turned out pretty dry.

I hope it's just this outlet and not the BK's overall standard. I do hope BK can keep a constant standard among all their outlets though because I've been a fan of BK and I don't like being disappointed.. no one does.

Sweet Talk is not a wise choice. Cry Apr 15, 2011

Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Sweet Talk bubble tea is often seen commonly. Sweet Talk was already in operation before the current bubble tea hype came back again- with Koi, Gong Cha and now, many others.

My bf and I shared a watermelon ice blended today, with pearls. It was really icy but powdery, I could taste the strong artificial flavorings.. not that bubble tea drinks are healthy to begin with. But really, the watermelon powder flavoring was so overpowering that it made our throats feel horrible and uncomfortable after drinking just half of it. The sugar level was considered very sweet too.

What's worse, the service was just as bad. The aunties in the pink polo t-shirt uniform were rude, unfriendly and too lazy to explain any details.

HORRIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE. Cry Mar 29, 2011

Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Curries | Kids-Friendly

I've to say that I was really disappointed with this Thai Express branch. My friends and I were here at Serangoon Gardens on a friday night in hope to have some local delights and ice kachang at Chomp Chomp but as fearfully expected, there weren't any seats so we thought of either Macdonald's or Thai Express as the alternative. We settled on the latter as not many of us are much of a fan of fast food. I'd usually either order pad thai or green curry chicken. This time I went with the green curry chicken and turned out to be really disappointing.

The green curry was awfully SWEET, like it was loaded with too much sugar in their cooking and it was really creamy. The chicken meat portion was miserable too, only a mere 5 or 6 pieces.. maybe they were out? If they were, at least have the courtesy to inform that the green curry chicken wouldn't be up to standard that day, I'd gladly choose another dish. Service was poor and unfriendly too. Cold.
