red velvet cupcake. OK Jun 25, 2011

Categories : Desserts and Cakes | Brunch

I was really craving for a red velvet cake, when a friend told me that I could find it at Marmalade Pantry though she already tried it personally and said it was barely average, well I went for it anyway.

The red velvet cupcakes at Marmalade Pantry are different from the typical ones. Theirs have coconut shavings on top. I was excited upon being served with my cupcake, I was looking forward to one all day long, I took my quick bite into it and true enough, I wasn't too pleased.

The cupcake was moist and fresh, but there was just something missing, like a lack of flavor. The cupcake tasted like plain ordinary vanilla cupcake except being red in color visually. The cream cheese frosting was more like vanilla frosting and the layer of frosting was really thin. I'd simply say the coconut shavings wouldn't be an ideal new creation to add on.

Maybe. You might want to try their other cupcakes instead, like the Nutella one.

set lunch OK Jun 21, 2011

It was my first time trying Fish & Co's set lunch. What really attracted me was that for only 12$, you'd get a main course with a mock tail and a scoop of ice-cream. Except that I was greeted with disappointment.

First of all, the main course itself was already sub standard. The fish and fries just tasted like they were fried in overused oil. The ice-cream had bits of ice in it, I've heard that if ice-cream tastes like this, it means that the ice-cream has been left out in the shelf to melt and refreeze again. The mock tail was normal.

Sadly, at the end of it, my take is that it isn't that attractive after all

KFC. OK Jun 08, 2011

My classmates and I ordered the KFC family meal, shared between us during our lunch break.

Apart from the fried chicken pieces, the meal also consists of coleslaw, mashed potatoes and Pepsi.

I didn't like the fact that the Pepsi didn't arrive cold, they were in cans and at room temperature. The fried chicken pieces were like normal, crispy and tasty but definitely oily.

The delivery service wasn't prompt either.

fried hokkien mee. OK Jun 07, 2011

Categories : Singaporean | Food Court

Honestly, this Koufu Foodcourt is really isolated and quiet. I dread that it'd be closing down anytime soon.

Anyway, we settled at this place for our dinner and I decided to get the fried hokkien mee since at that point, it appealed to me the most. It was decent tasting, not too oily nor dry, in fact it was more of the soupy sort, which I prefer so it was all good.

Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee. OK May 27, 2011

Categories : Hawker Centre | Noodles

Soon Lee Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee is a stall located along Makansutra Gluttons Bay.

I ordered a $4 portion, the smallest one available, if I do remember correctly, the servings come in $4, $6 and $8. Their fried hokkien prawn mee are of the soupy based category, not the fried dry ones. The prawns weren't exactly the highlight of the dish, they were crunchy but pale in color and they weren't juicy. The sambal chili added good flavor to the overall though.

I would say I'm neutral about this stall, let's just say you'd like it only when you're hungry.
