Birthday Dinner. Smile Mar 04, 2011
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Hotel | Buffet

My family of 4, plus my boyfriend, celebrated my mom's birthday dinner here at Novotel. Located just beside Liang Court, in fact they are also connected. The Square is situated on the 7th floor of Novotel Hotel, an international buffet spread that comes with a bbq food section outdoors that would not smoke and stink up the air-conditional indoors area. They also have a chocolate fondue fountain with assorted toppings like marsh mellows and grapes; sadly they do not have any strawberries to go with. Desserts also include pretty and skillfully designed cakes and jellies in shot glasses.

The chili and black pepper crabs, though not a perfect 10/10, they are also worth the shot to try as for a hotel buffet standard, I must say that they are still awesome.

Lastly, the Japanese sushi and sashimi are kept clean and fresh as they are not left out in the open but in the see-through refrigerator glass and could be requested upon the chef's service.

A must-try for everyone. My mom also ordered a bottle a red wine for the happy occasion.

Japanese fastfood chain. Smile Mar 04, 2011

I like MOS Burger for their hygienic individual packaging of straws and Japanese style fast food chain. With the current promotion of the oriental teriyaki chicken burger with peanut sauce, I was eager to try it. Personally, I also prefer grilled meat to the fried ones.

Had it as a set meal, the chunky thick-cut fries and the iced milk tea were good. I’ll usually request for 2 servings of creamer milk to add to my iced tea.

I had them to-go and service staff were friendly too. However, it'd be a bonus if MOS Burger could have more promotions and discounts in the near future.

V. Day~ OK Mar 04, 2011

My bf brought me here for our Valentine's Day last month. It was pretty crowded and we were glad that we made a reservation. The staffs there are friendly and took initiative to ask if we'd like our table in the al fresco, smoking, non-smoking areas or indoors.

Sadly, the special Valentine's Day menu was very, very limited. If my memory serves me right, there were only 2 different flavors of pastas and pizzas, fish n chips and 2 different flavors of pork ribs. I chose the honey pork ribs instead of the bbq one as I found the former to be more unique. My bf had the fish n chips. We also ordered 2 glasses of sparking red wine. We didn't go for the bottle though it was more worth it, as my bf was driving that night.

Great ambience and service but food wasn't so good, it dissapointed me. The fries were oily and the fish was bland. The pork ribs was a small piece and lacking the 'ribs fragrant'. It was a meaty piece to add one. The presentation was okay only too.

Decided to skip the desserts and headed elsewhere to make it up for.

Breakfast! Smile Mar 03, 2011

Categories : Bakery

My boyfriend and I had our breakfast here on a Monday morning to kick start our day to a trip to the USS. We were there at 9am and they were already open.

We bought 2 bread from Breadtalk; chicken parmesan and another long cheese bread (my bad, I don't remember the exact name). They were freshly baked and warm which I really enjoyed. We also ordered a set of nasi lemak and iced milo.

It was rather dissapointing that the nasi lemak only had a miserable serving of ikan bilis and peanuts, fried fish and sambal chilli. The chilli was good and the rice was pretty fragrant and crunchy. But apart from so, I wouldn't say it could score more than a 6/10.

Breeks cafe. OK Mar 03, 2011

Categories : Pasta | Halal

I've always thought Breeks as a western chain restaurant and a rival to neighbouring restaurants like Cafe Cartel, Swensens and Jack's Place. This was my second time at a Breeks since young and I must say I find their menu still as limited as ever. I spent some time looking through when I finally came to a decision to get the hawaiian pizza while my bf ordered the rib eye steak that came with a corn on a cob, garden veggies and jacket potato.

The food was moderate. Edible but not too fantastic. The pizza tasted like a frozen Sunshine pizza put to bake. The steak was cooked well done despite having requested for medium. The other two sides were average only too. The staffs did not make it a point to refill our cups with water despite being empty from the moment our food arrived.

Wouldn't go back to Breeks for a third time unless I don't have a choice.
