soft shell crabs Cry Mar 11, 2011

Categories : Thai

It was my first time trying out their soft shell crabs at Thai Express. I'll usually eat them at Japanese restaurants. The dish arrived and I'm upset to say first thing, there were only 2 pieces and secondly, they were soaked in oil. It seemed as if like the kitchen did not even slightly dab them onto paper napkins. I took a bite into it and decided to back off already, it was very crunchy and crispy of course, but the frying oil oozed out like nobody's business. Never ordering this dish again. I know soft shell crabs are already oily to begin with but this one I had was really way too soaked in oil.

New York New York, a chain western restaurant at average prices. I remember the days when they first started, giving out candy floss to customers in line as well as passing ones.

I had lunch here the other day. I ordered the pork ribs w/ wedges after some decision making. I didn't want to expect much to begin with and was proven right after my first bite into it as soon as it arrived. The wedges were served at room temperature. The ribs, on the other hand, tasted like mircowaved and the bbq sauce on top were 'starchy'. The meat was dry, hard and not tender at all. No way it could fit into the category of being succulent, juicy nor mouth-watering

Staff service was poor and unfriendly too. Wouldn't ever return again.

This stall in north canteen sells horrible but still edible food. I had the beef fried rice takeaway the other day, for $3.50 which was totally not worth it as I could have topped up just a little more for a better lunch elsewhere in school. even macs would have been a better choice. The fried rice was soggy in lumps yet oily and tasteless. The beef slices were miserable and had the distinct beefy smell, they didn't taste fresh anyway. I tried adding chilli to the food to make it better except that it was no better. Would never come back here again.

hk cafe. Cry Dec 27, 2010

Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe tries to sell authentic hong kong food cuisine except for the fact that they don't meet the standard. My friends and I were chilling out in the east the other night, decided to order a warm dessert to perk me up. I was looking through the menu and finally settled on the hot almond paste. It took the restaurant approximately 25 minutes to serve and when the almond paste arrived, it was served at room temperature with a layer of 'dried' almond paste coating. It wasn't too sweet but after a few mouthfuls, it started to make me sick and it had the 'gelat' aftertaste. The almond flavor wasn't distinct either and the fragrance was hardly present. Coming back here for dessert the next time will be a no-no, not sure about the food though but I'm relatively negative about it. The almond paste cost $3.80 excluding gst.

Overestimated. Cry Dec 15, 2010

Clearly, Fisherios doesn't live up to its name. The only reason we had decided to try out this place was because of the incessant praises and it is unbelievably ranked top 2 out of 5 on hungrygowhere. For a start, the ambience is definitely not praise-worthy as Fisherios is a kiosk with a bar table and seats around its length and 2 breaths. We made that a pass as despite this obvious fact, it is still ranked second in Singapore so the food must be really fantastic... or so we thought.

My boyfriend and I ordered the Beer Battered Fish & Chips for $7.90. It came served soaked in oil, with little beer taste/fragrant and a pathetic serving of fries that sat under the fish. That’s it, nothing else. We couldn't quite decide where to seat at first as seating at the kiosk's breaths would have the non-stop flow of passer-bys and seating at the kiosk's front length would mean having your dinner disrupted every now and then when other customers had to pay their bill before they could have their food as the cashier is located in the middle of Fisherios’s length. We took the breath anyway.

To make it short, ambience is definitely poor and food turned out to be poor too. Fisherios is really nothing special to rave about, disappointing as we had simply overestimated it. Wouldn't go back there again.
