Peach Garden  Smile Aug 29, 2011

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong

This is a little backtracked; I remember having a high tea buffet here on a Sunday. It was a Cantonese affair buffet. It ranged from a wide variety: char siew pao, siew mai, pork ribs, har gow, century egg congee, fried taro, fried cheese balls, egg tarts and the list goes on.

Peach Garden has good customer service. For the dim sum, what they did was that the staff came around with trolleys serving dim sum right to your table. They also made it a point to refill our tea cups. There was also a buffet area, for varieties like fried tofu, noodles and congee. It could be self-help but there'd also be staff to assist you.

For dessert, there were cold ones like ice-cream and fruits, hot ones like bobo cha cha.

Spize The Makan Place Smile Aug 29, 2011

One of the choices for supper at 5am after a night out. I ordered the Ayam Nasi Goreng, fried rice with fried chicken, specifically less oil. But I reckon it turned out the same anyway.

The nasi goreng was decent to me, not fantastic but good enough to fill up my tummy as I didn't have any dinner. The ayam was oily and crispy.

I'd say that this will be an ideal place for supper as options are narrower but definitely not a place for dinner when I would have many better alternatives.

Sour Sally Fro-Yo Smile Aug 29, 2011

With the Sour Sally voucher sent by OpenRice, it was to claim one complimentary cup (small) of frozen yoghurt with one topping.

I was looking forward to try their Candy Mix (Strawberry and Melon) but it was 'on holiday' sadly. Apart from the classic natural, the alternate flavor available was chocolate. I took a twin mix of both and for the topping, I selected chopped strawberries.

The frozen yoghurt was great but not amazing. As I prefer the smooth and creamy type of froyo instead of solid and icy.

Yoguru Smile Aug 29, 2011

New stall here at International Plaza. Being in the CBD area and being a loyal fan of Yoguru, my decision was made almost instantly to get a frozen yoghurt for dessert, a large one that is. The flavor was the yoguberry, something of mixed berries. I had a twist of natural and the mixed berries flavor together. For toppings I had oreo cookie crumbs. I like the staff at Yoguru, they are friendly, cheerful and prompt! Yoguru yoghurt remains a smooth, creamy and heavenly texture, simply refreshing and light.

Bak Kut Teh Smile Aug 28, 2011

Categories : Singaporean | Coffeeshop | Bak Kut Teh

Headed over to this Bak Kut Teh stall along Mohammed Sultan, River Valley Road for supper after a night out.

This stall opens till really late, I'm not sure if it's 24 hours. They serve the black peppery soup base range of bak kut teh. The name, bak kut teh, literally translates as "meat bone tea", and, at its simplest, consists of meaty pork ribs simmered in a complex broth of herbs and spices. I had this with a bowl of rice and a shared pork knuckle.

The meat was lean and tender; it fell of its bone easily, not needing tedious effort to chew. The soup is fragrant and tasty.
