Mixed feelings fine dining place OK Mar 23, 2011

1st step in front of the restaurant and you are greeted by smile of the waitress.
Walking into the restaurant it gives you quite a pleasant feeling.
A romantic atmosphere for couples as well.

I started with ordering a cup of hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was tasteless! Tasted like plain water with a bit of chocolate powder in it. But at least the waitress came to ask and at the end remake it by adding more chocolate into my drink. At the end, well, taste like hot chocolate finally.

Appetizers I decided to go with Tiger Prawns with Mango and Garlic Bread.
When the prawns first came, excitement came to me straight. It looked delicious but of course the taste matters most. Cutting the prawn up and putting it into my mouth. Mmmmm, it taste exactly like how it looks like. Mango was marinated with slight bit of black pepper but it does not cover the sweet and fragrant smell of the mango and in fact it improves the taste of it. Prawns were cooked perfectly with no signs of being undercooked or overcooked.

Then came the garlic bread, I was pretty disappointed about it. This is a garlic bread which in most places you can find something about the same standard as it.

For the Entree I decided to go with the Salmon with Wasabi Sauce. Delicious is the only word to describe it. Salmon cooked perfectly. Meat was moist and the skin was real crispy. The vegetables on the plate was unexpectedly nice as well. Potatoes and carrots and others were cooked in a way which you have never tasted before.

Now here comes the setback. A European couple came into the restaurant thinking of having a nice meal. The first they wanted to order? Wine! But most unfortunate and embarrassing, this fine dining restaurant do not provide or sell wine. The European couple laughed in a humorous way and asked if they can buy some wine over at a supermarket opposite the restaurant. And they reply they got was, "Sir, you can do that. However, we charged a corkage fee of $20." Charging fee when your own restaurant do not have wine?

So, food was delicious but drink and garlic bread was disappointing. Service was good but they have no wine to serve you. Mixed feelings about this restaurant. All I can say is if you can do without wine for a meal, this might just be the enjoyable experience for you!

McDonalds' meal OK Mar 23, 2011

This McD is easy to access from any direction. It’s just next to the Suntec food court. After you have your meal in the food court, you could have a cup of hot cappuccino in this McCafe. it's refresh your day. The queue is usually long when reaching lunch time. But don worry, they have a large space, so you do not need to afraid of no seat inside.

The foods and drinks are standard. If you do not want your French Fries to be too salty, you could ask the serving crew to add less salt. They will please to do it for you.

Spending per head: Approximately $5(Supper)

Just like the normal meal that I have in other EAT. outlet, it’s doesn’t give me a surprise or disappointed me in terms of food. The service level there is extremely bad. When you queuing up, the first staff that you passed by will take your orders and marked on the bowl for special order like, not spicy, no veggie or etc. then you will go through the 2nd staff that will cook the noodles for you. I could not understand why he asks the same question that the 1st staff asked before. Before my friend get to answer him, he already put the chili in the bowl while my order is without chili and he scolded at my friend because she did not answer him immediately. I thought they already marked it down? I heard the cashier scolded another customer with fault language but I do not know what is going on. But is that the way how they serve us? huffy

The taste of the food doesn’t fantastic. I wish they give me more veggies, I just could find 2/3 small slice of veggies in my bowl. And the bowl is quite dirty with the sauce and ingredients they added. sad They provide set meal, Set A ($4) – Dried fishballs noodles with tea/coffee, Set B ($5) – Pak chok Mee with tea/coffee and Set C – Laksa (Curry noodles) with tea/coffee. Tried the tea, it's tasteless. I could not smell the aroma of tea. Would I visit there again? I might need to think twice.

Hong Kong Tim Sum OK Mar 23, 2011
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

You can see few staffs stuffed in the small kitchen making the bao and dim sum from the entrance. All the bao, siew mai, mai kai and others also made by themselves. Using hands not the machine. So, appreciate each bite that you have in your mouth.

The price is average, Siew Mai selling at $0.80 each. You can find the chicken rice selling in this shop as well. I heard from someone that they selling the chicken rice first then only after that they start to sell dim sum. The residents there buy more dim sum from this shop than the chicken rice now. They provide seats in the shop and they selling tea/coffee as well. The drinks are so-so but the food is quite nice. smile

Riverside Indonesian BBQ OK Mar 23, 2011
Categories : Indonesian | Food Court | BBQ

I am craving for BBQ food so I think of the Riverside Indonesian BBQ. Lucky I could find it at Jurong Point top floor food court that opposite of the Golden Village Cinema. It’s very crowded I could say, especially on weekend. I took like 15mins to find seats for 2.

I’ve ordered the BBQ squid and BBQ chicken, my all time favorite. I intended to scoop more sambal chili to my plate but they do not allow you to scoop the sambal chili by your own. sad It’s a big disappointment because I love it so much. If it’s comparing to other BBQ food, this is still better a bit. But if it’s comparing to the Riverside Indonesian BBQ in Somerset that I tasted before, this is not good as the outlet there. I rather go to Somerset outlet if I am craving for BBQ meal next time.
