MEAT MEAT & MORE MEAT! Smile Jul 30, 2013

Categories : Korean | Restaurant | Buffet | Korean BBQ

The recent opening of their relocated novena branch has met with a small change in price, the only price increase was for adult's lunch which increased by $2, but it is still very affordable.

Take a look at their updated price list:
Lunch: $14++ (Adult) , $9++ (Child) [Monday-Fri]
Dinner: $22++ (Adult) , $18++ (Child) [Mon-Thurs]
For Friday Dinner + [Weekends(+PH and eve) - whole day]: $22++ (Adult) , $18++ (Child)

Operating Hours:

Weekday lunch: 11:30AM - 2:30PM (2:00PM LAST ORDER)
Weekday dinner: 5:00PM - 11:00PM (10:30PM LAST ORDER)
Weekend : 11:30AM - 11:00PM (NO INTERVALS IN BETWEEN)

As usual, we took a lot of meat as it is the most worth it! I love the juicy meat which has its very own unique taste. You can also take as much as you want as its a buffet style. I love the BBQ the meat by myself as I can control its consistency and I can eat it fresh out of the "stove"!
I also enjoy the attentive service that the staff here provides. Once they see an aluminum foil which is close to being charred and toxic, then swiftly change it. I also like how they are able to maneuver the meat and slide it down quickly onto the new aluminum foil.
There's also a very sweet rice drink which is very very addictive! I still crave for the taste everyday since my last visit.

Do bring a change of clothes if you're going somewhere else as this place really stinks up your clothes, unless you want to smell like a walking BBQ stove! mad
Do also queue earlier than your estimated time of eating as the queue tends to get really long during the lunch hours due to its very cheap and competitive prices for adults!

Spending per head: Approximately $16

Everytime I walk pass Baker Talent, I never fail to see a long queue forming. Decided to check out what's the hype about this bread stall that has a queue even at a secluded corner.
The prices of most of the bread range from $0.60 to around $1.50, relatively cheap compared to established brands such as BreadTalk.

I bought the hot dog bread as it just came out from the oven about 1-2 turns before me!

I was so excited to finally try this bread and it was indeed astounding! For a simple bread that taste so good and is cheap, it is little wonder why there's a queue. The bread is very soft and it doesn't become very dry and clumpy when you're chewing it. I gobbled it down without seconds and craved for more!

I think there was a really really cheap one which they were promoting, called the butter bomb or something. I shall try that the next time!

This is the ala carte Authentic Shredded Chicken Horfun (soup). They have a dry version of this noodle too. They also have either the ala-cartle for $5.20 or set meal - $6 (which includes either coffee or tea). And it's the best-seller (it's on the very first page of the menu!)

I'm not sure if it's really Authentic Ipoh food but this is really quite good! the soup taste nice and not oily. The chicken skin could be taken off easily and the hor fun is really smooth and soft. The prawn not however not crunchy but that's only a personal preference.
Also, i think the egg is supposed to add to the taste but I couldn't really taste it! Love to have more vegetables too!

This dish is definitely really good and I would love to try the other dishes which hopefully is from ipoh!

Spending per head: Approximately $6

2nd round of creativity Smile Jul 30, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Sushi/Sashimi

On a mission to try all the creative sushi available before the end of the month!

Aquamarine: $4.20
This includes the salmon belly wrapped with egg tamago, asparagus and shrimp roe. The sushi tastes quite normal, nothing very creative about it. It is a bit like the salmon handroll except this one has asparagus in it.
You can skip this if you don't have extra stomach space.

Jewel Box: $4.20
There's premium BBQ eel, cheese, potato flakes and some fish roe with sesame seeds on top. I like the potato flakes on this sushi! It's really interesting, but I do think that they have a similar sushi called Golden Catch (dory fish instead of BBQ eel)

(They gave us different plates as they said they ran out of the normal polka dot plates they had to give, but the presentation is still there so no worries!)

Once this promotion ends, I believe that I would've found alternatives for these 2 sushis if i ever need to try them again. Then again, I do hope that they put this on the usual menu so that we are able to eat them as and when we like to!

P.S. Doing this review made me realize how costly these sushis are! If i top up about $5-6 more, I could get a full set meal! Perhaps these sushi should be eaten once in awhile only.

VEGE LOVE tongue

NOM NOM NOM! This is the Sansei Soba ($12.80), translated to Buckwheat Noodles with Mountain Vegetables. I'm not too sure what the mountain vegetables' names are but I could identify the spinach and spring onions! There was another vegetable, it was a little.. sour? I didn't return know what's that. But if you drink the soup and eat the vege together, it tastes pretty good! I also love the pretty Japanese fishcake, might be some "beautiful is good" effect but i LOve the fishcake! The buckwheat noodle is really soft and can be bitten off very easily. If you love vegetables, I think you'll definitely like this dish!
