After watching many cooking shows online, I was delighted to know that P.S cafe served this Pineapple Meringue Pie!
As you walk into the restaurant, you're greeted with this soft touch of classical music and beautiful flower arrangements jumps out from everywhere. If this is not the life of the high-fliers, I don't know what is. Visited the washroom and I was surprised but this HUGE bouquet of flower arrangement which took up almost 3/4 of the mirror infront of me which I thought was funny. Also, while walking towards our seat, a long row of pretty cakes greeted us and was totally taunting me to try them all!
The place has this really rustic feel to it and during the odd hours, there was hardly anyone there on a weekday and so my company and I had the whole of the second floor to ourselves.

We ordered this Pineapple Meringue Pie served with vanilla ice cream ($14)

The taste didn't really stick with me although you could taste the pineapple really strongly. After recalling how difficult it is to make this meringue, I decided to savour it slowly. Considering the price, I don't think I would want to try this one anymore.
I will definitely want to go back to try their sticky date pudding which the waitress recommended as the favorite of many customers.

Spending per head: Approximately $15

Went to this branch after craving for Japanese curry from my previous visit to Coco Ichibanya.
I ordered the fried chicken curry this time round as I wasn't that hungry and also reduced my rice portion (I love this cool feature about the restaurant!) I like the fried chicken for how it is, small and cute and I could still taste the meat! although it was still quite a small portion. However, for the price, I think i would prefer eating the chicken katsu curry rice instead of this.

Then again, I'm always up for trying new things and I think my most favourite seafood curry rice has to wait.

Japanese Currrrrrrry! I think that I like this frequent this curry place as I'm lazy to cook my own, and this taste more or less like the japanese curry that I'm able to get from ntuc although I ate my own garnishes and other ingredients in.

I dined at the somerset branch as it was the nearest to the escalator and we were too hungry to move further. Luckily there was a student promotion going on where for $10.80, you can get one plate of curry with either chicken katsu/seafood/etc. and a salad with a drink. Quite worth it if you ask me!

I ordered the chicken katsu curry rice as I've tried the Seafood one during my previous visit, which will always be my 1st choice regardless.

The chicken slices were quite a thick cut but the flour that was coated around it was even thicker and made me feel like I was eating more of the flour than the chicken meat itself. I didn't like that the skin was still intact either ]: so i had to slowly remove them one by one. The curry was similar to the previous time one but this time I think I ordered level 2 spiciness? it was a tad spicier but still manageable.

I should stick to my choice of eating the seafood one the next time round!

High-class Zi Char OK Jul 28, 2013

It seems like this Restaurant is more well-known for its dim-sum, but the time I went to, it was already at night. Hence, we could only get the dinner menu which didn't include any dim-sum. The crowd at night was really thin, other than my table, only 3-4 of the available tables were occupied. With the air-con blasting at high speed and the random mix of English and Chinese songs playing overhead, one really wonders how they survive for so long. I must say though, the ambience was there. Quiet and gentle, i could really cut the silence with a knife. They also have a strict dress-code which can be flaunted easily as my company and I were all wearing flip-flops which wasn't allowed. I guess they didn't really care anymore with the few patrons they have.

We ordered Braised Asparagus with Bamboo Piths - $21.00

There wasn't anything special about this and the sauce wasn't that nice either. Normal for a simple dish, although the price was a little steep for vegetables. This was a medium sized portion. But I guess we paid for the service and environment we dined in. The asparagus was quite juicy though, which was really nice.

We also ordered the Braised Cod Fish with Dried Bean-curd - $18.00

I think this dish was more worth it as Cod fish is one of the most expensive fish in the market and they were not very stingy in serving Cod fish that was quite a large thick chuck. The dried bean curd was mediocre though, only enhanced by the sauce which was not too bad. The broccoli was a little tasteless, luckily it's not the star of the dish.

Overall, if I had a choice, I don't think I will frequent this place often. Although parking is not a problem as there is free parking, the food there is purely mediocre and the only saving point is that it is quite high-class so the staff are pretty attentive.

Delicious! OK Jul 28, 2013

The A1 claypot house outlet chains seem to be opening one after another! This is evident of how good the food is! This branch that i went to seem to open not too long ago, maybe around june to july? The novelty of it attracted many people and one could see long queues at times during the peak lunch hour as office workers dash around for their food!

I decided to go for something light today and ordered the Cai Pu egg and spinach with 3 kinds of eggs.

Cai Pu egg ($8.90). This egg was normal and it wasn't the a little liquidy quite that i prefer. The egg was also a thin slice which doesn't explain the cost. As cai pu is quite cheap in the marketplace, I think that just threw a bunch of it into the wok as it was really quite salty! I had to drink the soup from the vege that i ordered.

Spinach with 3 types of eggs ($8.90). The soup was not up to standard and it wasn't as flavourful as the other places that i tried. Perhaps they show use the superior stock to enhance the taste. The vege portion was quite generous and one could see the large amount of salted egg floating around. The 2 other types of egg were not so evident.

The service staff were all very friendly although they were very busy attending to each customers. They had smiles on their faces despite of the business of the eatery.
I would definitely go back for the service but I think I would try the other dishes as there were more misses than hits this time round.
