Not too bad OK Jul 30, 2013

Was hoping to try get some quick Japanese food at Isetan (which always seem to be holding Japanese food fair) but was met with a Thailand food festival fair instead. Wasted not time in grumbling, as Thai food is one of my other favourite cuisines. The space that they have didn’t really have allow much on the spot demonstration as many were selling ready-made items. I spotted a queue nearer to the middle of the fair and decided to check it out.
The chef was cooking some glass noodles/rice on the spot for the customers. I was hooked! I ordered a chicken glass noodle ($5) and was charged $6 instead. The cashier pasted the wrong sticker on my box and quickly apologized, refunding a $1 to me without any hesitation. Good service!
The glass noodle was soft and fragrant; there were also a generous serving of chicken and egg. A gripe that I had is that there should be more vegetable!
Other than that, for such a fast meal, it was quite good.

Gong Cha OK Jul 30, 2013

Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Sometimes I really detest myself for succumbing to this super sweet drink. But I couldn't resist!

Ordered the honey milk tea without pearls [$2.90] (self-deceit that it's healthier).

There was a very distinct taste of sugar even after I changed the order to one that was even lesser sugar than the previous order also as I felt that it was still too sweet. Apparently even low sugar level doesn't mean no sugar level! False advertising! The ice takes up almost half off the cup which was a bad way to give less "ingredients" by adding more water.
Nothing really stood out and I felt it was a noraml cup of bubble tea compared to the others.

Feed me Sugar! OK Jul 30, 2013

With the arrival of Krispy Kreme in October, I decided to get my fix of doughnuts before my appetite for them starts increasing till I couldn't control!

Green Tea Donut: The green tea donut was really true to its name. It tasted just like I was drinking green tea itself instead of eating it! The cream was quite thick and although it stuck to my hand while I was maneuvering it, it was an easy lick off of my finger!

My favourite! Cookies and Cream: I can never resist anything that's made of cookies and cream. It's like bringing me back to relive my childhood again. I would prefer if they had more "cream" part on it although the cookies part made up for it. This felt a little more oily than the green tea one.

Nevertheless, both these doughnuts were really good and I hope J.CO donut will still survive even with the opening of Krispy Kreme.

P.S. Donut = American shortened way; Doughnut = British way of spelling

New York Pizzeria OK Jul 30, 2013

It is pretty evident that out of all the restaurants at USS, Loui's NY pizza parlour proved to be the most popular one. During lunch hours, it it pretty hard to find a space to sit with babies crying over here and toddlers prancing over gleefully.
Nevertheless, I managed to secure some seats before deciding to leave for another eatery.

I ordered the Pepperoni Pizza a it was the one closest to me and I wanted some meat to fuel myself.

The huge slice of pizza was roughly equivalent to 2.5 slices of pizza outside. Put into perspective, this is quite a pricey meal. But it's no surprise that tourist spots are usually the place to earn your revenue. The pepperoni is pretty good, as you can see, it is big and round and looks really good.
The crust is quite thin, the NY style perhaps.

I also ordered a soup to go with my pizza instead of drinking fizzy drinks.

The soup of the day was cream of mushroom and i truly liked the taste! You're able to dig out some mushroom bits floating around and the crouton was still crispy even after awhile!

The food here is indeed good which explains the long queue and large amount of patrons here.

Quick snack OK Jul 30, 2013

I love this breadtalk for its convenient location. Once you come out of Harbourfront Mrt, this store screams at you to visit it due to its colourful interior and it always seem to be having some sort of promotion/new item.

I always fall back to my lovely Nacho cheese bread ($1.70) as I always felt like I was eating pizza when in reality I was eating a bread.

Sadly, the bread must have failed the QC check as the potato cubes on top of it was kind of hard and there were more flour being coated around the potato filling. The nacho cheese was the same, which is good as I had something to fall back on so that I wasn't overly disappointed.

After opening so many branches, I feel that the quality might have dropped a little as the owner seems to prized quantity over quality (evident from the numerous amount of stores all over the little island). They've also changed the packaging from a small plastic bag to the plastic container which makes crackling sound when you open it to this container made of paper (which i believe is more eco-friendly, so kudos for that!). The cost of the bun also seem to be increasing each year.

We should take advantage of the $1 promotions which they seem to have annually!
