Fat food OK Jul 29, 2013

Categories : Fast Food | Halal

I walked over to get some fast food as I was craving for it like a pregnant lady.

Ordered the set which includes 2 pieces of chicken and 3 pieces of shrimp with crispy fries and a regular drink ($7.00). Had I known of the inflation of the fast food, I wouldn't have stepped into the place! For the same price, I could've eaten something more nutritious! Nevertheless, my craving was "cured". I like the batter of Long john silver as it's really crunchy, but the meat size seems to have shrunk since the last time I came. Economy must've hit hard! The shrimp was also a disappointment as it wasn't juicy or anything. Fries were one of the saving point for me as it was still crispy when I ate it after awhile!

Googoogaga! OK Jul 29, 2013   (Related Review)

The queue attracted me to it once again and I decided to try the "healthier" food available there: Gado-gado ($4.50)

I like the fragrance of the peanut sauce that was drenched on top of some cabbage, egg and rice cakes. Not much complaints to this as I felt that it was pretty good. A little qualm about it is that some pieces of koropok seems to have been left out for too long or so. It didn't really have the crisp feeling anymore. Other than that, I think this dish was nice! lol

Not impressed OK Jul 29, 2013

($6.90)

First try, didn't really like it. But the queue seems to be perpetually long. I didn't like that the pomfret fish had a lot of small bones and it was deep fried (?) for too long; made it really hard and different to get the meat part out! The sauce was a little too sweet for me but if coupled with the rice, it seems nicer. The two little pieces of tofu at the side was quite of redundant and it was quite hard along the edges.

However, I think most of the people were queuing for the chilli! It is really really spicy and my tongue was on fire once i touched it! It was way too hot for me but i guess it caters to the singaporean search for the spiciest food! haha!

Sirloin steakk! OK Jul 29, 2013   (Related Review)

After my successful tasting of the previous visit. I dragged another friend to accompany me to try the sirloin steak which i was eyeing the previous visit! HEHE! He didn't regret one bit after trying it! lol

So I orderd the sirloin steak this time round (400G), which I obviously couldn't finish! Lucky I had a guy to help me finish my food, otherwise it'll be such a waste! The 50% discount when you dine with a friend was still on when I went back! PHEW. (if I'm not wrong, they have different promotions on different day! So you might want to check with the restaurant before heading down)

The steak was not as good, I asked for medium rare but it almost came out close to raw and I could see the reddish blood parts. The chef must've been too anxious! HAHA! So I asked the waiter to bring it back to cook it a little more and he was very apologetic about it.
It came back almost well-done this time round! OH MY. But some parts was still a little medium rare. I think the chef has to go for steak cooking classes again! By now, I really preferred the salmon more. My side dishes this time round were baked beans, wedges and garden salad. The baked beans were a little different from the canned ones, although it was most probably canned too but the sauce tasted a little better? and the beans felt bigger. Wedges was a little dry and the garden salad was the same.

I was more disappointed this time round and I think i'll stick to the salmon the next time! Still a very nice place to eat nonetheless!

($35.50 before discount)

Light lunch OK Jul 28, 2013

Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Seafood | Kids-Friendly

Went for a light lunch with my friends and I had to watch them eat as I wasn't that hungry. Snapped some pictures of the food that I was interested in and had a little taste of though! tongue

These were the 2 dishes that I had a quick taste of:

1. Stir Fried Long Beans with Thai Shrimp Paste ($7.50)
My friends always call me the rabbit of the group as I can't resist eating their vegetables and I'm also given whatever kinds of vegetables they don't like! HAHA! I like that although the paste looks menacing, it was actually not that spicy and I could still take it. Although after awhile, I had to reach for my glass of water to quench the fire slowly burning up. The long beans was also crunchy and nice!

2. Moon Prawn Cakes ($8.50). This dish was either new/chef recommended thus my friends picked it. I think it's not too bad. The filling taste a little bit like fish cakes with prawns in it and was crispy on the other as it was fried. I also especially like the sweet and spicy sauce provided! Eating the prawn cakes with the sauce was a good match!

I like both the dishes equally well and I'm glad I decided to follow along even though I wasn't hungry, if not i would've missed out on trying tese 2 dishes! tongue
