Bao Now! Smile Jul 29, 2013

Categories : Dim Sum

After eating at this place, my mom and I decided to order the Bao for takeaway as we were attracted how the pictures and how they seem to have very unique boas!

This is Bao Today's Black Sesame Bao (2 pcs for $2.60)

I love how the bao can still be made really soft even after one day. An the sesame filling inside was like molten lava! I bit into it and the filling burst out. Literally exploded out like thick lava! It stained my shirt (and the stain is still there after repeated wash ): But it was worth it as I think the bao is really good!

We also ordered the steamed creamy custard bao (2 pcs for $3)

Similarly, the filling also burst to life! Luckily this time I was prepared and it didn't stain onto my shirt. This is the more known as liu sha bao.

Really good and I will definitely try their other "die die must try!"(says the menu) items!

Fun with Friends at Ichiban! Smile Jul 29, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

Went to this place after school the other day to celebrate the end of the semester! I like this place as it feels more cozy than the other ichiban branches that I've been to. Perhaps it's smaller in size which makes it more homely. The food is nevertheless, awesome.
I ordered the Wafu Steak Wazen ($16.90)

The set includes:

Scallop covered with cheese, baked to perfection; chawamushi: crabmeat, ggingko, meat, mushroom; and two slices of oranges. I like the scallop as it was juicy and the cheese that covered it has melted nicely. Orange was a little sour and the chawamushi was as good as what I imagine it to be.

This is the Beef Steak. I think it's really worth the price as the beef had a thick cut and was really juicy! There were also many onions surrounding it which enhances the taste but unfortunately, I don't eat onions like so.

I definitely recommend dining at this branch as the songs they play are really calming and the place has this really chill vibe!

I love the smell of soya bean which never fails to waft around your nostrils as you walk past a Mr. Bean stall.

I bought the Honeydew Soya Milk ($2.30) as I was craving for it after trying it the previous time during their birthday promotion. I like this drink as the honeydew flavour was very outstanding but it doesn't fight with the taste of soya bean milk thus one could get 2 drinks for the price of 1! Honeydew juice + soya bean drink! There are also other flavours available such as watermelon and papaya!

Mr. Bean has been one of my favourite due to the cute enticing logo and of course, the freshness of the soya bean and the service of the staff!

Recommended Dish(es):  honeydew soya milk

Yangnyum Galbi: Beef ribs marinated in BORNGA’s special sauce, $45!

Finally, I was able to try the long-awaited BBQ beef after soooo long! I came with my family instead of my friends! I absolutely love this place for the BBQ beef! I also love Bornga's special sauce which I can dip into and we were allowed to get more special sauce!

We're supposed to roll out the meat and let it cook. The bone was really hard and obviously inedible but I feel like I was having the real deal! Being able to see the bone part. This is really really good and I also like the presentation of the raw lettuce and carrots that were giving so that we can wrap the meat in the vegetable and eat!

It's really the best combination in the world: Beef, vegetable and Bornga's special sauce! HEAVENLY. I felt that every penny was really worth it! I urge you to give it a try!

I've always noticed that the Koreans who dine at Korea restaurant ordering this dish: Chadol Duenjang Jjigae ($16)
I was apprehensive about trying it as I thought it would be crazy spicy with the amount of redness in it! I asked the waiter and he assured me that if I'm able to take a little bit of spicy food, I should be fine.
This is essentially a traditional Korean soybean paste stew with beef and vegetables. It is cooked at tableside where the waiter would stir it around this pot and served it after it's done.
I'm glad I had the guts to try this dish as when paired with rice, it's really good! You have to mix it like you're eating bibimbap! The soy paste is really fragrant and it wasn't that spicy (or at least i could still take it!)
I've yet to try the BBQ beef that other patrons around me are always ordering as I couldn't find a right time to drag my peers to endure the BBQ smell after dining.
