Bought a discount voucher from deal.com.sg for $7.90 which included a Pie + Mash Potato + Salad + Fresh Brew! I think it was so worth it as the pie was REALLY REALLY GOOD!!!!
The voucher allowed me to choose from:
Duck Confit
Chicken and Cheddar
Lamb Shank
Seafood Laksa Shepherd
Wagyu Beef Cheek
Chicken and Mushroom
Creamy Seafood

I wanted the Seafood Laksa Shepherd as I thought it was the most unique one but they have already ran out of it. PLEASE BAKE MORE!!
So I ordered the Lamb Shank:

WOW! i was truly amazed! The crust was flaky and crisp where once you sink your teeth into it, it felt like your tastebuds found true love. It was so magical! I felt like I was eating something that angels made! The lamb itself was really soft and juicy. I like that the pie was able to hold these kind of meat that needed sauce to pair with so as to enhance the taste. But the lamb shank did not need much sauce as it just melts in your mouth!
The mash potato was really awesome too. It was light and fluffy and you won't feel sick of it as the gravy was really nice.
I also like the salad that had this really special dressing, it's like a little sour but sweet at the same time. Really interesting sauce!

They also gave an ice cream and I chose the chocolate flavour. I felt that it was too sweet although it tasted a little like milo which was pretty good. But too much of it makes me sick. Luckily they had free flow water (self-serve) so you can take as much you want to wash down the sweetness.

P.S you're also allowed to take a cookie from the counter for your tea! (Free-flow)

Guess what! I went home and quickly bought my vouchers so as to try out the other pie flavours! haha!

Grade A! Smile Jul 28, 2013

After eating the awesome food at the chinatown branch, I couldn't resist queuing for this again at a place nearer to my house! Thankfully the queue wasn't very long as people ate really quickly and the staff were really swift in their clearing and setting up of table for the next patron.

I ordered the claypot sliced fish porridge ($8.90)

I like the consistency of the porridge, not too thick and not too watery. But this porridge was on the thicker side which makes it feel like more work has been put into cooking it! HAHA! There were also many fish slices inside which tasted really fresh and I'm so glad there isn't any small bones that are sometimes overlooked by the chef.

To complement the simple porridge, I also ordered the claypot sesame oil chicken ($11.90). I like that the dish came out piping hot! REALLY hot! you can see the steam from the dish itself in the photograph. However, it tasted a little too salty on its own. Luckily I had the bland porridge which was enhanced by the saltiness of the chicken. I created a good combination! YAY!

I also saw other patrons who seem to be eating some type of claypot rice which smells really fragrant! Will try it the next time round smile

More seats please! Smile Jul 28, 2013

Made a reservation for lunch at this place to get the 10% student discount! HEHE. This restaurant has a really simple theme with metal chairs and a big hanging TV where diners can enjoy their meals whilst watching TV. While i was waiting for my food, I counted the number of chairs inside and indeed, there were 49 seats! How cool! I hope their business grows even bigger and they can house more patrons lol

I ordered the Pan Fried Fish in Al Scampi Sauce as it was one of the much raved about dish (Other than the tom yum pasta (i didn't feel like eating spicy food that day)). The sauce is CRAZY awesome!!!!! There were little clams and prawns inside and there's more than 1-2 of them. The sauce is really creamy and omg, delicious! I'm drooling as I type this. HAHA! The fish is soft and smooth and was quite a big piece!
There were a lot of fries which I couldn't finish ): Otherwise the whole plate would've been cleaned and sparkly that they didn't have to wash it. Because I swear If I could, I would lick the plate clean. haha!

The set also included one soup of the day and a drink (it was in a vintage tin can! really cool. I was too hungry to snap a picture) haha! All the dishes are also reasonably price even before the student discount as they were not stingy in serving size.

I will definitely be back to try the other dishes although I must say, this is one of the best sauce around!
The place is also quite easy to find as when you come out of the mrt station, you just have to walk straight and turn right after you see a indian temple (and keep walking straight!) we got lost and made a huge detour before we saw the signboard. haha!

Soup Restaurant's Samsui ginger restaurant has always been one of my favourites around as the ginger is powerful enough to match the taste of the chicken. We decided to go to the branch at woodlands after my father ended work.

We ordered 3 dishes: double boiled dried scallop with black chicken soup, fried kang kong with fermented beancurd and also the star of the night: Samsui Ginger Chicken!

The soup came quickly after we ordered and I must say, the ingredients were more than the soup itself! Plus points for them! From the picture, you can see the the scallop is a huge chuck of scallop which is happily floating around, waiting for me to ingest it. There were also mushrooms and some herbs at the bottom. This dish has a description that says that it improves your memory/attention, good for those kids who are busy studying and trying to memorize facts into their little brains!

$8.90

I didn't really like this dish as I felt it was a little dry. The fermented beancurd taste also didn't really stick with me. I still ate it as I needed some greens in my diet otherwise I feel really uncomfortable.

$7.90

Lastly, the Samsui Ginger Chicken! I was not disappointed by this smile The chicken was smooth and soft, paired with ginger, it was impeccable! The layout of the dish also impressed me as it was really pretty. My family had to ask for about 3-4 more plates of ginger before we could finish this whole dish! That's how good it is! smile

$30.90

With the opening of another branch near my house, I'll surely be reporting there frequently to get my fix of ginger chicken!

Not Siam(ing) [moving] away Smile Jul 28, 2013

Have I ever mentioned that I love love love Thai food? During the GSS sale, my family bought some vouchers which entitles us to 50% discount on all the items and can only be utilized in july! This led to us to frequent the restaurant many times in this month and the waiters were able to recognize us! haha!

I went over by myself the other day and had the Masaman Beef Curry ($12.90) and a plate of Jasmine Rice to complement it.

The curry was HEAVENLY!!!! I was in cloud nine as I slurped down the curry bit by bit, savoring the taste in my mouth. It has all the flavors: sweet, sour, spicy and salty bursting with each bite. The beef was extremely soft and I swear that even people with no teeth will be able to eat it (I kid!) as it melts in your mouth. There were also carrots and potatoes in it which doesn't make it to overwhelming after awhile. I also like that they were very generous in the serving of the curry as you can see that it's more or less filled to the brim!
After eating this meal, I did a quick research on how to prepare it and the procedure looks really tedious and requires many many kinds of ingredients. Kudos to the chef who was able to make this dish hit all the tastebuds perfectly!

As with all the delicious thai food I've eaten, I'll always seek to be back for them to tantalize my tastebuds lol
