Headed over to Pizza Hut to try the cheap lunch deals as I always see people queuing up at dinnertime! I went there around 2-3pm and the lunch crowd was probably gone already as there were only 3-4 tables occupied. The service was impeccably fast and staff were very friendly and courteous. As the restaurant was relatively empty, the service was very fast and they were always hovering around, ready to serve the customers.

I ordered the Student Lunch Special which came with 1 free flow soft drink and a side dish of your choice. For the main dish, I chose the Chicken Pomodoro. This lunch costs me $7.90++ ($9.20 w GST and service charge).

The soup of the day was Cream of Mushroom Soup. The simmering soup let out a delightful aroma of scents. I like the consistency of the soup and plus point to it was that there were visible cubes of mushroom in the soup! I was so tempted to order another bowl of soup but luckily, my drink came. On hindsight, I think I would've been too full after the pasta. I chose the Miranda Orange as my drink. I think it was generous of them to serve the drink as free flow. But sadly, it was a waste to me as I prefer plain water instead of soft drinks. Lastly, the Chicken Pomodoro! The tangy smell of tomato sauce combined with the earthy scent of basil, topped off with garnishes of olives and peas drums up thoughts of a garden in spring. The pasta was cooked al dante which was really nice. Although the garnishes added to the lovely image of the food, I unfortunately did not like olives and peas, hence I did not eat them in the end. There were many pieces of chicken in this dish as well! What's more, they are skinless, the way I like them.

Overall, I like that Pizza Hut has student meals at such an affordable price to attract us. The serving sizes were not compromised and they do maintain their standards even though consumers paid a lesser price. I will definitely be back to try the other dishes on the student lunch specials menu!

One of my favorite chinese restaurants! I love the deco of the restaurant as it fits the name of the restaurant very well! They have chinese wine urns as the deco and wooden furnitures, which emulated the older days inns very well!

Staff were all very friendly and wore dian xiao er hats! Very cute! They were all very well-versed with the menu and most memorize the menu. Quick and friendly service from them.

On to the food!1. Soup of the day - Double boiled lotus root - $11.60
Refreshing and light, was a good start to the meal. Lotus roots were of generous serving and the meat inside was actually quite flavorful! There was some peanuts, dried scallop within too. 2. Duck roasted with angelica herbs - $12.90
Filled with herbs, the duck was roasted to perfection. Personally, I don't eat the skin of the meat but this skin was too good to be wasted! It was crispy and some of it didn't even have any fats on it! The meat was soft, tender and aromatic as it absorbed the herbs flavor. I tried some of the herbs and they were surprisingly sweet! Not too sure what kind of herbs are they though. 3. Stir fried bitter gourd and pumpkin -$11.60
This is quite a special dish, never seen it outside before! Bitter gourd and pumpkin was quite a good mix. There were some crunchy things (dont know what are they) and chestnut (?) cooked together. The sweetness of the pumpkin compensates the bitterness of the bitter gourd!4. Old-style steamed fish slices $12.30
I like the sauce that they cooked the fish in. Not too salty and taste different. The fish slices were fresh too! 5. Chinese spinach in superior stock - $18.30
One of my favourite dish to order as it has wolfberries in it and i love spinach! plus, the superior stock can be taken with rice, delicious!! There were some anchovies sprinkled on top of the dish, adds to the healthiest of the dish!6. Braise mushroom in chinese wine - $10.90
Taste of chinese wine was quite strong but with the other condiments added to make the dish, i felt it was quite a nice touch!
White rice - $3
Best place to have another bowl of rice if you're love eating rice! The rice is very very flagrant and it's always pipping hot! Ask the waitress which brand they use and i believe they said "zhen zhu mi" (pearl rice). Got to go buy it for myself!

Quick tip for the health conscious: there's dishes with the health pyramid at the side and i think they list the calories in the food too!

The recent opening of their relocated novena branch has met with a small change in price, the only price increase was for adult's lunch which increased by $2, but it is still very affordable.

You can also take as much as you want as its a buffet style. I love the BBQ the meat by myself as I can control its consistency and I can eat it fresh out of the "stove"!
I also enjoy the attentive service that the staff here provides. Once they see an aluminum foil which is close to being charred and toxic, then swiftly change it. I also like how they are able to maneuver the meat and slide it down quickly onto the new aluminum foil.
There's also a very sweet rice drink which is very very addictive! I still crave for the taste everyday since my last visit.

Do bring a change of clothes if you're going somewhere else as this place really stinks up your clothes, unless you want to smell like a walking BBQ stove!
Do also queue earlier than your estimated time of eating as the queue tends to get really long during the lunch hours due to its very cheap and competitive prices for adults!

This is one of the restaurant opened under the Soup Restaurant group. The 3 "sister" restaurants are actually situated next to each other in IMM. You get the most expensive one (Soup Restaurant), the average cost one (Pot Luck) and then Café O. You can actually have your 3 meals there too! For breakfast, try the Cafe O for roti prata, etc. for lunch you can frequent the pot luck store which serves a variety of different dishes and then have dinner at Soup Restaurant! Pretty cool concept huh!

So let's start with the review for potluck! this new establishment at imm seems to be a hot favourite as you can see long lines being formed during the lunch/dinner hours.
I believe what attracts most is that they have free flow drinks ($2.80) and free flow rice ($1.50). However, on hindsight, unless you're a really big eater, this may be seen as more expensive than cheap as they discourage sharing of food so if you calculate, you actually have to poslish off 3 bowls of rice before the price is about $0.50 per bowl of rice.
Before ordering, you may want to consider this economical point!

We ordered this curry fish head for $17.90 as it seems to be the best-selling and it's a chef recommendation. They even framed it up and put it as perhaps a permanent promotion item (U.P $23). I smell a marketing gimmick! (which I gladly fell into as the picture looks really enticing!)This dish came in a hot pot (Extremely hot pot! Please be careful when handling!) and was exactly like the picture being advertised. The aromatic curry hits your nose and you came feel your mouth watering. I wasted no time in piling the curry onto my rice and quickly dug in.
I think the fish should've went through some QC as it was still really scaly, making it a hassle to eat as you have to slowly remove the scales as you eat.
If without the scales, this is definitely a very fantastic dish as the curry was thick enough and the fish was really fresh!

Looking around, I saw many other dishes that were being served out and most if not all, you could see the steam rising from each hot pot! This is definitely one place I'm going back to!

After the delicious meal I had a previous time, we came back to try this again! This time, the service was very bad. We called the waitress to come and clear the tables at least 3 times and they didn't even come. We had to bring it to them before they came as they weren't other empty tables to place the empty bowls.

We ordered the Ipoh Homemade Ginger Duck Horfun (Dry) - $7.50 or ($8.30 for set meal)This duck was really hard! It was so difficult to pull the meat apart and the sauce was really really salty! I don't know what happened to this place but the standard of the food was atrocious! I read other reviews which said that this dish was not bad.. Maybe it's just this time round that they didn't cook properly or something

We also bought the Ipoh Golden Platter to share ($8 for large and $5 for regular). We got the large sized one. There is the fried crispy cracker, fish balls, ipoh fried turnip and tofu. The most abundance one was the crispy cracker. It was quite crispy but it was very salty too! The fish balls were quite bad, it was difficult to bite through. You can dislodge the skin from the fishball itself which shows that it isn't really good. The tofu was hard at the side, not good. Lastly, the fried turnip. It turns out to be really hard to like the tofu, hard at the sides! I didn't enjoy it at all. It also tasted very sweet, taste more like sweet potatoes than fried turnip.

I didn't enjoy my trip this round. Service was bad, and food wasn't good either.
