I was still unable to try the Laksa Shepherd Pie like i wanted to but I tried the Wagyu Beef Cheek this time round, and OMG. Mind-blown. Who in the world created this heavenly dish!!?
(I bought a voucher $7.90 from deal.com.sg which includes Pie + Mashed potato + Drink

Wagyu Beef Cheek:

I cut a hole in the middle this time round so that it's more obvious what's the filling inside. You can see the thick cut of beef check being shown in the picture which was equally good as the lamb shank, if not better! The sauce in this drenched the bottom of the skin of the pie a little but it is forgivable as it's way too good! Like my previous visit, the mashed potato was still as good and the salad at the side was equally superb! This time round the salad dressing was more sweet than sour (which i liked better!)

Vanilla Ice Cream:

It's as sweet as the chocolate flavour! Didn't really like it but I didn't want to waste it so I finished it and gulped down almost two glasses of water to decrease the sweetness flowing through me! HAHA! I absolutely love this eatery and will be coming back to utilize my vouchers gleefully! lol

Bought a discount voucher from deal.com.sg for $7.90 which included a Pie + Mash Potato + Salad + Fresh Brew! I think it was so worth it as the pie was REALLY REALLY GOOD!!!!
The voucher allowed me to choose from:
Duck Confit
Chicken and Cheddar
Lamb Shank
Seafood Laksa Shepherd
Wagyu Beef Cheek
Chicken and Mushroom
Creamy Seafood

I wanted the Seafood Laksa Shepherd as I thought it was the most unique one but they have already ran out of it. PLEASE BAKE MORE!!
So I ordered the Lamb Shank:

WOW! i was truly amazed! The crust was flaky and crisp where once you sink your teeth into it, it felt like your tastebuds found true love. It was so magical! I felt like I was eating something that angels made! The lamb itself was really soft and juicy. I like that the pie was able to hold these kind of meat that needed sauce to pair with so as to enhance the taste. But the lamb shank did not need much sauce as it just melts in your mouth!
The mash potato was really awesome too. It was light and fluffy and you won't feel sick of it as the gravy was really nice.
I also like the salad that had this really special dressing, it's like a little sour but sweet at the same time. Really interesting sauce!

They also gave an ice cream and I chose the chocolate flavour. I felt that it was too sweet although it tasted a little like milo which was pretty good. But too much of it makes me sick. Luckily they had free flow water (self-serve) so you can take as much you want to wash down the sweetness.

P.S you're also allowed to take a cookie from the counter for your tea! (Free-flow)

Guess what! I went home and quickly bought my vouchers so as to try out the other pie flavours! haha!

Spending per head: Approximately $8

Light lunch OK Jul 28, 2013

Went for a light lunch with my friends and I had to watch them eat as I wasn't that hungry. Snapped some pictures of the food that I was interested in and had a little taste of though! tongue

These were the 2 dishes that I had a quick taste of:

1. Stir Fried Long Beans with Thai Shrimp Paste ($7.50)
My friends always call me the rabbit of the group as I can't resist eating their vegetables and I'm also given whatever kinds of vegetables they don't like! HAHA! I like that although the paste looks menacing, it was actually not that spicy and I could still take it. Although after awhile, I had to reach for my glass of water to quench the fire slowly burning up. The long beans was also crunchy and nice!

2. Moon Prawn Cakes ($8.50). This dish was either new/chef recommended thus my friends picked it. I think it's not too bad. The filling taste a little bit like fish cakes with prawns in it and was crispy on the other as it was fried. I also especially like the sweet and spicy sauce provided! Eating the prawn cakes with the sauce was a good match!

I like both the dishes equally well and I'm glad I decided to follow along even though I wasn't hungry, if not i would've missed out on trying tese 2 dishes! tongue

Not for me.  Cry Jul 28, 2013

The new seasonal promotion menu caught my eye due to its bright and happy colours.

So I decided to try the Salmon & Ikura Cream Udon with Char Siew Rice ($14.80)

OH MY! THE SOUP IS.. totally not for me. It was WAY TOO milky, tasted like I was drinking fresh milk and eating noodles. I felt that it was a bad combination but if you really like milk-based dishes, this dish should be able to satisfy you. On a side note, the salmon was nice as I was able to sort of get rid of the milky taste with the wasabi. I also ate the noodles together with the char siew rice. Funny combi, but the milk part kind of went together with the rice and it wasn't as bad. I left the whole bowl of soup untouched which I felt like it was a waste as I usually wipe dry the bowl ): The char siew rice was normal.

If you ask me, I would definitely not want to try this again.

Grade A! Smile Jul 28, 2013

After eating the awesome food at the chinatown branch, I couldn't resist queuing for this again at a place nearer to my house! Thankfully the queue wasn't very long as people ate really quickly and the staff were really swift in their clearing and setting up of table for the next patron.

I ordered the claypot sliced fish porridge ($8.90)

I like the consistency of the porridge, not too thick and not too watery. But this porridge was on the thicker side which makes it feel like more work has been put into cooking it! HAHA! There were also many fish slices inside which tasted really fresh and I'm so glad there isn't any small bones that are sometimes overlooked by the chef.

To complement the simple porridge, I also ordered the claypot sesame oil chicken ($11.90). I like that the dish came out piping hot! REALLY hot! you can see the steam from the dish itself in the photograph. However, it tasted a little too salty on its own. Luckily I had the bland porridge which was enhanced by the saltiness of the chicken. I created a good combination! YAY!

I also saw other patrons who seem to be eating some type of claypot rice which smells really fragrant! Will try it the next time round smile
