Spicy!

Spicy!

Sambal KangKong!

The kangkong was very crunchy and juicy! Sambal was very very nice-smelling too! Upon more eating, it felt a little spicy and my tongue was going numb but i couldn't resist popping more into my mouth! The stem part was crunchy and the leafy part was soft and nice.
Be careful of the leafy part getting stuck between your teeth!
YUMYUM!

YUMYUM!

Stingray was so yummy we had to get one more!
The stingray was cooked on the banana leaf which boost the flavour of the fish and removed any fishy smell there was on it. Meat was on both side of the stingray although we side had like thick chunks of meat on it. The meat was very soft and the skin was crispy. We added lime to one of the stingray, which brought out the flavour even more due to the extra kick!

I love the stingray here and will definitely be back to try more! (:

Chicken wingsssss! (: It's been so long since i last ate BBQ chicken wings as it's always a hassle to remove the skin from the meat and the ones that we BBQ at home are more often than not, half-cooked or raw inside.

The skin on this chicken was crispy and nice! It was irresistible!! Have to go exercise if i want to indulge like that. LOL
Sadly, the meat was a bit on the harder side and there was very little meat from one of the wings ):
But still, i love the chicken wings!

I think it was suppose to be self-service too? But as the stall was not that busy at the time, the auntie served the food to us. YAY! However, do note that payment was to be made at the stall itself.

Chicken and mutton satay! YUMMY!!
Like many others before me reviewed, this is one of the best satays around in Singapore!!
Definitely worth the distance if you stay at the west side to travel alll the way to Serangoon!

One has to buy a minimum number of satay sticks to order, and they are different prices for each type of meat.
(there's a stall further down the row that sells cheaper ones, we didn't order as there were too much food!)
Anyhow, the meat was very juicy and soft. It was very easy to bite off the stick, making it very easy to gobble them up one after another!

The stall auntie was very cute when she messed up the numbers of the sticks we wanted and commented that all her satay sticks were very nice so it doesn't matter which meat we want! LOL. They also tend to write the order of sticks on the plate so it's easy for them to differentiate which ones are for which table. (Economical way as they don't have to spend money on paper!)

lol

YUM!

YUM!

WHERE CAN YOU FIND SUCH A HUGE JUG OF SUGAR CANE JUICE! and only @ $3!
Sugarcane juice was so refreshing after eating so much oily food! Especially if the food is spicy, it is a complement to quench the fire in your mouth!
I had to share this huge mug of sugarcane with my friend as it was wayyyyy too big although it is very yummy!

I will definitely go back and order more next time when i head down there! (: yummy!!

Satay Bee Hoon $4

Food at Chompchomp has always been very well-known due to most stalls at the place serving very delightful bites.
However, the satay bee hoon that i tried the other day was sub-par, compared to other satay bee hoon.
Contrary to the review before me, i felt that the satay bee hoon was atrocious. I'm not sure if it's been 1 year since the last review or that the chef has changed or because i went down to early for fear of needing to wait for the tables, but the food was really tasteless.

I went around 5.30pm when most stalls were just setting up to open and the satay bee hoon seem to be one of the few that was already open long ago.
So..
Bee Hoon was normal, eatable. The peanut sauce was really questionable, it was watery and not even aromatic at all. It also felt very tasteless, like i was eating peanuts by itself. The sauce was also not absorb by the bee hoon at all. Really weird. Prawn was not very fresh and difficult to peel as the meat stuck to the shell. Cuttlefish had a funny taste, might have been left overnight ): the kangkong was okay.

The service was good, i think it was suppose to be self-service? But might be because i was early, the guy served the food to our table. He was very friendly too.
As it was early, the smokey stench of the place did not really hit us. Plus, it was quite windy that day.

Tip: Choose the seats outside instead of in the hawker centre as the ventilation is much better.

Overall, this was the worst dish that i've tried that day. I would recommend other satay bee hoon (e.g. the one at bukit timah hawker centre) than this one.

Disappointing.
