Located on the third level of Hotel Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy, Feast @ East offers a great selection of classic Singaporean and delightful Peranakan cuisine to delight your nostalgic taste buds. The highlight of this buffet will be their ever-changing buffet selection to pamper customers. For consistency, All-time favourites such as Singapore Laksa and famous Durian Paste are available daily for during lunch and dinner!
Went for the kill at the seafood station! Freshly steamed cold mud crab and scallop, can't get any better than that! Crab was sizeable (about 350-450grams), value for money for such buffet standard.
I had other options from the cooked food segment and of course their Signature Singapore Laksa! Colour of the gravy was on point and the rest was history. Indeed living up to its name as Feast At East's All Time Favourites.
If you are a cake and kueh lover, their dessert bar is one not to miss! The one worth mentioning was the Durian paste. Not compromising on the quality, this purée was thick and rich with durian! I would be lying if I said I stopped at one serving. Even if I didn't had an extra room for desert, I will make sure I have some that night!
Overall, an ideal place to get together with family and friends for a nice meal where you can relax and take your time to enjoy the entire buffet selection repeatedly at your desired pace.

When I first saw the exterior, my impression of dipped a little as I was expecting something a little more hipster since it was highly recommended by a fellow coffee lover/athlete! However, if I never try, I will never know, right?
Beans and Cream reminds me of Creamier in terms of presentation. However, the latter still has the upper hand. Waffles here lack in buttery fragrance and can be a little more fluffy, nonetheless, it was above average.
Their ice cream were awesome. Thick, rich and generous portion! Had the Thai Ice Tea and Salted Caramel flavours where both scored 8/10 for me.
Coffee was surprisingly tasty too. With past experiences of diluted ice latte, thus I didn't esteem this cuppa at Beans and Cream, initially. Once again, never judge a book by it's cover. This humble ice cuppa had great aroma and chocolate/bitter coffee flavour at great price too!
Great recommendation and finding! This was an icing on the cake as my athletes did well for their competition too! Made my trip to Gombak extra worthwhile!

There has been an emergence of youngsters venturing into F&B usually in cafes, restaurants and into hawker fare as well! Stated "Since 1970" (which I highly doubt it), Kai and Randall decided to make a career switch from sales to roast! Perhaps knowing the power of focus, Roast Paradise specializes only on Char Siew and Roasted Pork. That's right, no roasted duck, chicken nor braised eggs, only Pork. #soshiokpork
It's been awhile since their opening in August 2015 and business has increased steadily according to Randall.
Unlike the typical roast stall with racks of meat dripping with gravy, Roast Paradise is rather 'clean' and the meat are nicely racked in standard portions. Apart from the normal individual order, additional portions comes in 100 grams, 200 grams and etc. as a form of standardization.
The part used for Char Siew is definitely unlike the regular cut. Wanted to ask Randall about it, but he was busy entertaining the lunch crowd and it eventually slipped my mind too. Translucent fat, deeply marinated meat, caramelized crispy outside with charred edges.
Verdict: 3.5/5 for taste and 5/5 for presentation. Fatty Cheong and Nan Xiang are still my to-go places for Roast Meat!

Here at The Burger Bar by Fatboy's, one is able to Build Your Own Burger (BYOB) with over 25 toppings, 11 sauces, 4 types of buns and patties to experiment with. Have fun, Build Your Own Burger, and claim one of 4400 possible permutations! Boom!
Feeling 'lazy'? Why not try out burgers from their menu instead. Burgers are priced from $13-17 (if I remember correctly) that comes with fries and drink. You may top up a little to upgrade your original fries to sweet potato fries, cheesy bacon fries and etc.
I tried their Swiss Shroom, BYOB with Lamb Patty and the classic Cheeseburger - Royale with Cheese. To be honest, they were all super satisfying! The patties were juicy (not overly wet), minced to perfection (not mashed) and tastefully seasoned. The lamb patty had a mild gamy flavour which may tickle the taste buds for lamb lovers just like myself.
The Fatboy's really knows how to treat their customers well! Check out the portion of fries served! Definitely unseen and unheard of in other burger joints.
Overall, this is a fuss-free and self-service burger joint. What you see is what you get, this is the real deal for burger lovers!

I've heard and tasted Claypot Rice, Chicken, Beancurd and Frog etc., but Hokkien Noodles...? Well that's a first for me. Whatever the case, when I first saw pictures of it, I immediately promised myself that I need to try it one day and I finally did!
We ordered the Claypot version ($10 or $15) which took about 20 mins to arrive. Like eating claypot rice, I mixed the golden brown mouth-watering siobak (roasted pork) and pork lard together with the noodles, then allowed the gravy to set for a while to reach 'perfect' viscosity. The rest was history!
Wok hei from the noodle, fragrance from the pork lard, crisp from the sio bak... all these as I slurp in mouth after mouth. Food-gasm my friend!
Simply irresistible!
