Heartiest congratulations to Brawn and Brains! After 2 years, they have finally expanded their sitting capacity and menu! Occupant of the unit facing Guillemard Road, the cafe now accommodates approximately 40 pax and includes an area for customers to hang around while waiting for their cup of boosters. On top of that, Brawn and Brains has upgraded to two bigger and meaner La Marzocco machines to serve you better and faster! Reminisce of Brawn and Brains 1.0 HERE.
Matching up with market rates, Latte are now $4.5 and Iced Latte $5. That being said, their coffee still packs a huge punch and is worth every single penny!
Truly inspirational! From a humble unit to the where they are now, I'm definitely looking forward to the day when they are fully operational, which includes their new kitchen extension!

#190
Located at Katong Shopping Centre, Cake Stand bakery is an outlier among its neighbouring shops and may be easily overlooked. Covered with a purple roof top and housed in an area similar to a 20 ft container, this humble bakery is one where all the magic happens. There are a handful of cakes and bakes available daily and "bake to order" service with a five days notice.
Among the daily selections, I got myself a slice of Espresso Chocolate cake ($6) in replace of a latte which I intended to have at Second Storey Cafe.
I'm not much of a cake type of person, but boy oh boy, this one got my taste buds busy. The Espresso flavoured cream was rich and smooth in texture. It complemented the fluffy yet dense chocolate layered cake!
Check out their catolog HERE for your future purchases! You may also drop by for some sweet treats, but do know that seats are LIMITED (4 only) as they function more as a bakery than a cafe.

Made with choice-grade premium beef cuts, grind, blend and hand-form, Omakase burger patties are worth dying for. Backed with multiple awards, no wonder they are universally acclaim as the best burger in Singapore. Currently, this burger joint is available at The Grandstand (Turf City) and the heart of Orchard, Wisma Atria with each having their own unique menu.
I visited the outlet at Wisma Atria, where they have the exclusive applewood smoked bacon. All burgers don't include sides nor drinks and prices are strictly for the burger.
Both burgers looked foreign to those on posters. Similar to most food eatery, pictures are for illustration only. Nonetheless, the burger buns were out of this world fluffy and light, truly amazing. Patties were a league of its own, where the marriage of seasoning and beef were close to perfection.
We ordered fried sweet potatoes fries too. Healthier choice? Well, not really since it was fried, but sure beats eating regular fries. Truffle fries are available too for you fans out there.
Overall, I'm satisfied with the quality of the burger. However, pricing and portion size are aspects that I will consider before splurging on these burgers again or too often.

Introduced into the cafe world exactly a year ago with their first outlet at Marina Square, Teddy & Me Cafe now has two more at Plaza Singapura and Changi Airport Terminal 3. This novelty themed cafe is a perfect spot to chillax for fans of Mr Bean. Snacks, brunch, desserts, cakes and pastries are available here.
Among the cakes, Mille-Crepe seems to be their hot seller, based on my observation. Having said that, we didn't order it.
This was what we ordered, Waffles and Ice Cream! $15 for 3 scoops. BUT total DISAPPOINTMENT.

The plus point for this outlet of Teddy & Me will be the study tables and power plugs. Customers can also surf the internet with iPads provided at each table, and charge their phones at the counter too (mentioned online, but didn't manage to find any). A good initiative, but probably not going to revisit anytime soon.

Full review at http://lepakwithyaops.com/hong-kong-zhai-house-of-dim-sum-since-1988

Founded by Susan Ng, this humble outlet in the neighbourhood of Ang Mo Kio Ave 4 is an established dim sum manufacturer and one of the bigger player in this industry. In addition, after a re-branding of image in 2014, Hong Kong Zhai now has a delivery arm that allow one to sit back and enjoy hot steaming dim sum delivered to our doorsteps!
My parents and I had differing opinions as we enjoyed our food. I thought that it was above average while they felt that otherwise.
These were our orders:
Beancurd Skin Roll with Shrimp ($3.50)
BBQ Pork Rice Roll ($3)
Glutinous Rice In Lotus Leaf ($3)
Red Bean Paste with Melon Seed Bun ($1.60)
Siew Mai ($2.80)
BBQ Pork Pastry ($3)
Creamy Custard Bun ($3)
If I were to compare it to 126 Dim Sum and Swee Choon, the only disadvantage will be its lack of variety, otherwise food standard is definitely comparable. However, the advantage will be its affordability! Hoo-ray for that!
