I had a great opportunity to dine in Wildfire Burgers at 313 Somerset. The location was very convenient and the ambience was romantic alfresco. We had 6 dishes to sample.
1) Truffle Burger
The beef was 100% beef. It was juicy and succulent. The beef was a big generous patty. The truffle oil was overwhelming.
2) Ebi Burger
The bun was charcoal flavoured. Very unique. The ebi was a generous thick patty.
3) Fried Chicken
The chicken was well-marinated. It was tender and juicy. I love the gherkins on it. It enhanced the taste.
4) Spicy Chicken
Overwhelming spicy. All I could taste was chilli.
5) Curry Fries
The curry was mild and sweet like Japanese curry.
6) Sichuan Fries
It was not spicy but the after taste numbs the tongue. It was kinda weird taste.
7) Cheesy chilli Fries
I could taste the cheese or the chilli. Don't know what it is.
The burgers and fried chicken was delicious but the fries ruined it all. There should change the Fries menu.

Yum Cha provides a convenient Chinese New Year dishes for delivery. The delivery comes with a heater bag to keep the food warm. I had the great opportunity to taste the best of the CNY dishes. There were 5 CNY dishes :
1) Salmon Yu Sheng
The salmon was fresh. Home-made sauce was slightly sour. It had many unique ingredients including jellyfish and pomelo.
2) Roasted Chicken
The chicken skin was crispy and the meat tender. The Thai sweet chilli sauce was a nice condiment to the chicken.
3) Braised Pig's Trotter with Fatt Choy
The pork was tender and well-marinated. I love the black moss. Soft and tasty.
4) Fried rice with chinese sausage in Lotus leaf
It was crispy claypot-styled fragrant rice. The sausage was finely cutted to enhanced the flavour of the rice.
5) Suckling Piglet
This was the best CNY dish! The skin was hard and crispy like a cracker but not oily. I came back for seconds just for the skin. The meat was tender and tasty. I don't like pork but I can't resist a suckling pig!

I had the great opportunity to dine in Eight Treasures Vegetarian Restaurant in Chinatown. We had a generous 10 courses banquet that only a wedding could provide. The food included a completed chinese banquet dishes from shark's fin soup to dessert. Since it was a food tasting for the coming Chinese New Year, we tossed a yu sheng for good luck. The 10 courses are :

1) Veg. Shark's fin with white fungus & wolfberries.
It was surprisingly tasty. The Konnyaku was a good imitation of seafood. There were finely-cutted beancurd sheet, enoki mushroom and white fungus. Was so delicious I asked for 2 bowls!
2) Fruit Salad Vegetarian Chicken.
The vegetarian chicken had potato crispy skin on the outside but not oily. The mayonnaise was also vegetarian.
3) Thai styled Cod Fish.
It was wheat-based soy. The texture was soft and taste very much like fish. The seaweed gives it a seafood flavour.
4) Vegetarian Abalone Mushrooms with Tau Pau & Seasonal Greens.
The braised mushroom was well-marinated. It was plump and tasty. Lightly steamed boccoli was crunchy and not soggy.
5) Cereal Prawns.
Lightly fried cereal was crunchy but not oily or soggy. The prawns was realistic in taste and texture.
6) Fragrant Yam Ring
The yam was fresh and not oily. Good seasoning.
7) Honey Sauce Veg. Pork
It was visually realistic and attractive.
8) Braised Yee Fu Noodles
Tasty but not oily noodles. Full of shiitake mushroom and tasty mock ham.
9) Yu Sheng
The salmon was konnyaku. It was very bouncy. The seasoning was just right - not too sweet.
10) Mango pudding
Not too sweet mango pudding. Was a perfect finish.

Tapas Tasting Time Smile Mar 09, 2015

Categories : Spanish | Bars/Lounges

I have my first Spanish Tapas experience in My Little Tapas on 42 Club St.

The food was authentic and full of flavours.

My entree was Spanish cured pork, cheese and bread. The cured pork was dry but delicious. Very unique for meats.

The rest of the tapas was mostly seafood like sardines on bread, sauteed prawns in olive oil and grilled octopus. My favourite meats are seafood which was perfect.

I also had savoury Spanish flatbread and Spanish potatoes croquette. The flatbread was all sour, sweet, and salty in one. Very tasty.

Towards the end, I had lamb on the rack with boiled potatoes and chickpea. The lamp did not have a gamey taste. I thought it was beef at first!

Lastly I had chocolate mud cake and strawberry ice-cream for dessert. The combination of bitter cake and sour ice-cream was great.

I would definitely recommend to my friends My Little Tapas because it is very authentic. It is something I would have to travel afar to taste it.
