Believe it or not, it was my virgin trip to Sunset way after residing in the west for almost my whole life. Thanks to OpenRice, I had such opportunity to have my first visit to Carne & Caipirinha for food tasting!

Carne & Caipirinha is a Brazilian churrascaria which is one of the very few restaurants in Singapore that offers a meat buffet. Not to mention, they are the only one that uses charcoal fire for slow-roasting of quality meat, mostly directly imported from Brazil.

Beware everyone... All are warned to fast at least a day before the buffet. Let me now explain why.

So all of us started with their signature drink known as Caipirinha. It is a refreshing and tangy cocktail, with fresh limes as mixer, infused with a shot of alcohol. It tasted much like a mojito lime in my opinion, except that it was probably a double shot. After a few sips, my mind tells me that its time to get started with the buffet. The fresh lime in it stimulates our appetite and it really went well with the meat! They offer imported Brazilian beer and wines too. Beef and wine, need i say more?

As for non alcoholics, you can try their Guarana Antartica, the very first soft drink produced in Brazil.

The buffet counter greeted us with a great variety! From fresh salads to cooked pastas, along with a pretty good range of condiments! There was also their national dish known as Brazilian Feijoada (black bean stew), made from trimmings of meat eg. ears, tongues, tails. Pretty exotic and interesting but taste wise was pretty mediocre. I enjoyed the stir fry vegetables a lot more and secretly went back for second round after all the meat tastings. Highly recommend you to take more to go along with the meat!

There were 14 types of grills on the menu which consist of pork, beef, lamb, chicken and fish. Warm cheesebread was served to us too where some of the members gobbled at least 10 of them.

One of my top favourites was the pork sausages! It was a little more on the dry side but was flavourful and chewy. The bacon wrapped chicken was not too bad as well for bacon lovers.

The pork belly was very juicy cause of the fat layer. The sides were charred and hence bringing more flavours to the meat.

Beef rump! It was very lean and thus was a tad too dry for my liking.

Beef hump! Apparently one of the cow species in Brazil has humps. This fared alot better than the rump! It contains more fats as compared to the rump but it was much more tender and flavourful. My favourite meat of the night!

Towards the end of the meal there were grilled pineapples served! It was extremely sweet and soft. I can't help but took 3 servings of it. I love how it washes down the "gelatness" after the overload of meat.

Carne & Caipirinha is offering a promotional item now known as "The Firebomb". It is a flaming carbonara pasta infused with 3 different alcohol! Staffs will perform in front of their guests as per order. Firstly, freshly cooked carbonara pasta with mushrooms will be tossed into a large Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese wheel, followed by pouring in a flaming cocktail. The flame will then char the pasta and melt the cheese, giving it a good balanced of flavour. More cheese will be scrapped onto the dish before serving! The taste of the pasta is unique and there was a hint of sweetness to it due to the alcohol. I personally enjoyed the rendition without alcohol more but others preferred the former. Do give it a try if you are there!

The Firebomb is available at $10 per serving and the carbonara pasta without alcohol infused is included in the buffet. So if you need some carbs along with the meat, don't forget to order it.

Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience at Carne & Caipirinha. It is an entirely different buffet experience whereby servers approach you with huge meat skewers and serve it before your eyes. Though there were some hits and misses but it is pretty worth the value. Do catch their happy hour for a better deal!
