If I have to say what makes Chong Pang Nasi Lemak stands out, it would be their deep fried chicken wings and Sambal chili. It couldn't get any better than a combination of crispy light batter, succulent fall off the bone meat, and sinful grease dripping that makes you crave for more after each bite. It is also their versatile Sambal chili balancing out the savoriness from the chicken wings and providing a mild spiciness and robust sweetness.

Hainanese Chicken Rice Since 1990 Smile Apr 13, 2016

Categories : Coffeeshop | Chicken Rice

Chicken rice is one of the most popular dish in Singapore and you can find this dish literally everywhere. The technique of finding a reputable stall is as easy as tracking down the longest queue, and my journey led me to the stall-front of Yishun 925 Chicken Rice.

HALF CHICKEN (12.00)
Skillfully deboned, chopped and dressed in an emulsion of light soy-sauce and sesame oil, the glistening steamed chicken is rested on a bed of sliced cucumber, served with a portion of acar on the side.

As I ordered the half chicken, instead of the regular plate of chicken rice (3.00/4.00), there was a mix of both dark meat and white meat.
The boneless meat has a silky smooth appearance with a firm and springy texture. Served at a cold temperature, the flesh was juicy and succulent. Some people remove it, but I can't miss out on the layer of slippery soft skin that literally falls apart in your mouth. Definitely one of the best place to have Chicken Rice.

SEAFOOD AVOCADO PASTA (14.80)
The al-dente fettuccine complimented well with the creamy sauce, and the unusual avocado on the side provided a refreshing-buttery component to the dish. There were shrimps, clams, octopus and scallops atop the pasta but the portion was simply disappointing.
SLICED TERIYAKI OMU RICE (12.90)
Presentation was not the priority for this dish and it seemed that the dish was drowning in sauce. The soft and creamy omelette parcel was commendable, and the fried rice soaking up the teriyaki sauce was decent. The sliced beef was slightly dry and chewy but the sauce was able to compensate for the flavor.
The food was decent but doesn't leave a lasting impression.

Try the Mango Bingsu! Smile Apr 06, 2016
Categories : Korean | Desserts and Cakes

We decided to get the Mango Bingsu which comes with a generous portion of mangoes slathered on the shaved ice, and subsequently a swirl of whipped cream and a scoop of mango flavored ice-cream drizzled in mango syrup. A small serving of condensed milk is also served on the side.
The mangoes were exquisite with an intense sweetness and almost buttery consistency, complementing perfectly with the delicate shaved ice, infused with a mellow milkiness. The much needed scoop of mango ice-cream provided a much needed creaminess factor that binds the whole dessert together.

A particular dish impressed me. OK Mar 25, 2016

A disappointing dinner service, a dull ambiance but there was one dish that managed to sway my humble opinion of the place. The Bún thịt nướng chả giò is a popular Southern Vietnamese dish that really surprised me with it's refreshing flavors and savory grilled meat. Maybe I'll be back for their specialty "Wrap & Roll" dishes, but most definitely not for their Phở.
