Overpriced, sub-standard Cry Nov 13, 2010

IMHO, the hokkien noodles, char kway teow, carrot cakes served by this stall is not at all nice. The hokkien noodle is fried in one big wok at one go and dished out as customers orders. I once had a cold plate of noodles. huffy The prawns that was added on top of the noodles are definitely cold and tasteless.

The carrot cake was nothing special. No different from the carrot cake that you can get at more than 50%off t hawker centres.

Absolutely not worth the $4.80 price tag for the smallest serving!

As far as I know, this is the only Qi Ji outlet in Suntec area that serves plain rice during lunch.

Recommendations:

Curry chicken - very nice! Rich and not too spicy.

Mee siam - gravy is not too sour and not too spicy.

Aunty attending the rice counter during lunch - very friendly!

Recommended Dish(es):  Curry chicken, mee siam.

Better service at this branch Smile Nov 13, 2010

Wang is one of the two local cafes that are my favourites.

Drinks - Their coffee and tea are well prepared and tastes rich and authentic. The coffee blend is fragrant and freshly brewed (i.e. no sour coffee!). The coffee-c and teh-c is nicely made, not the bland and diluted types.

Food - the mee siam is quite nice, not too sour. Mee rebus is rather dissappointing as it is too spicy!

Service - friendly. The aunties working here are more friendly than the foreign talents working at their Suntec branch.

A little dissapointing is their recent price increase.

Deteriorating standards and value OK Nov 13, 2010

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Porridge/Congee | Dim Sum

I have been frequenting this place for breakfast and lunch, and I must say that their standards have been dropping. Serving size has also shrunk.

Soft boiled eggs - It looks more like hard boiled eggs.

Beef sheng mian - the slices of beef have reduced dramatically.

Portugese curry baked rice - again, reduced serving. Chicken meat can be tough.

Wan ton noodles soup - the soup is no where near authentic. In fact, tastes a bit weird.

Only item that I would recommend: milk tea
The milk tea tastes great, smell of tea is fragrant and the amount of evaporated milk added is sufficient to give you the milky aroma. Do note that it can be too sweet. Ask for reduced sugar if sweet stuffs are not your cup of tea. tongue
