Soya bean milk & you tiao OK Mar 19, 2012

Categories : Singaporean | Hawker Centre | Desserts and Cakes

After dinner nearby, my parents and I were walking down the rolls of food stalls when we decided to get some soya bean and you tiao from the Selegie Soya Bean stall at Hougang St 21.

The soya bean milk(hot) was thick and rich, and unlike those you get in the coffee shops that are watery and tasteless, this soya bean milk was packed with rich soya bean flavor.

I was disappointed with the you tiao however as the you tiao were cold and very hard- not at all crispy and fluffy like it should be! Maybe they should have given the you tiao a quick dip in hot oil before serving them to the customers!

Bread OK Mar 19, 2012

Categories : Bakery

The cake history outlet at Toa Payoh HDB Hub, is always bustling with activity, with bakers hassling in and out of the kitchen with trays of freshly baked breads and pastries and crowded of customers going in and out of the store.

I decided to get the Japanese cheese bread, which was a flat pancake like bread filled with cheese inside! To my disappointment, the cheese within was not as creamy as i expected and the bread which was supposed to be fairly soft and fluffy was not.

Shilin fried chicken Smile Mar 19, 2012

I was looking for a quick snack to have while on the go and Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks just came across to me as a delicious and satisfying (meaty) snack i could have!

And one could never go wrong with the street snacks from Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks !

As usual, i ordered the crispy fried chicken and asked them to hold their horses on the amount of chilli powder they usually add. I love the crispy texture of the batter that coats the chicken, and together with the hot, steaming chicken within, it all made this snack very satisfying. The dash of pepper on the top also gives this snack a great kick!

Yummy!

Good old' chinese food OK Mar 19, 2012

My boyfriend and I was at Nex and we were pacing around the mall, thinking of what to have for lunch when we passed by Din Tai Fung and decided to dine in there!

The outlet at Nex was very large and spacious, nicely decorated and very cold! The staff there were quite attentive and helpful- good service!

I ordered the za jiang mian, or minced pork noodle, and it came in a pretty small portion (but just enough for me since i'm a small eater) and a bowl of clear soup.

The noodles were a hit, for it was just the right texture. The sauce of the minced pork however was a little salty, but still good nevertheless.

At $8+ a bowl, it's a just a tad expensive for such a small bowl. I would prefer the minced pork noodle at crystal jade over this any time, but it still wasn't such a bad meal overall.

Hazelnut milk Tea @ Nex! OK Mar 19, 2012

Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Drink Tea at Nex is located next to an escalator, and is often packed with many people during the weekends!

With all the hype, i decided to give this bubble tea shop i try and ordered their hazelnut milk tea -size medium with less ice!

The flavour of the hazelnut was quite fragrant and i quite enjoyed the drink! It was not very sweet, (could be more sweet but that's just my sweet tooth speaking) but i found the drink to be quite refreshing. Would definitely give other flavours a go next time, and try out their roselle pearls!
