I don't know what possessed me to order Carbonara that day as I've always been skeptical about the quality of cream dishes from restaurants, let alone a school cafe. Needless to say, the carbonara was a disappointment, not because of the dish itself, but because of cooking methods; there was a fishy taste that contaminated the entire dish, probably because they didn't wash/ change the pan between dishes. The sauce for the spaghetti wasn't too creamy but I couldn't bring myself to finish the spaghetti due to the fishy taste. What a waste!

Went for brunch here and it was quite meh, so thinking that we're not giving this place a chance since its a dessert place, we ordered a few cupcakes despite already being quite full. All I can say is that their desserts (whatever that we ordered) were so disappointing! It tasted like run of the mill cupcakes that you can buy at any bakery for a fraction of the price. We expected a lot more because we thought 1-Caramel's niche was desserts. Also, the staff were cold we had to go into the kitchen to call them in order to pay. It was like they didn't want our business!

I'm a huge fan of frozen yoghurt and I've always wanted to try Sogurt, since it seemed like the cool new kid on the block. So when a new branch opened in Westmall (kinda near to where I stay) I bought a cup for dessert after lunch. I tried the original flavor with granola, digestive biscuits and a single flower marshmallow for decoration (yes I'm weird like that). It was so disappointing! The yoghurt was really icy, i.e. the texture was icy and not creamy or smooth, and the taste was also icy, very watery and not flavourful at all. Actually the only "flavour" was sweetness, so it tasted like frozen sugar water with yoghurt flavoring, if that makes sense. The granola was really crumbly and felt like leftovers. Maybe its just this branch that makes lousy yoghurt, but I doubt I'll be spending $5 and up on a cup of sugar ice again!

I'm a fan of carrot cakes and stopped by Cedele for a fix. The slice of carrot cake was quite big, great for sharing. The cake itself was okay but not good enough for me. A little too sweet, the cake lacked the richness of ingredients (like nuts, CARROTS, etc.), which the reason why I like carrot cakes in the first place. With the complexity of ingredients compromised, the cake was mediocre in terms of texture and taste. Still passable but my quest for great carrot cake continues!

I had the mushroom and cheese crepe at reedz cafe for the second time and was slightly disappointed this time round as I remember it to be much fuller and tastier the other time. The cheese wasn't the thick kind and was slightly watery.. The ingredients were normal and there was nothing special about the crepe either. Gotta give them effort for the presentation though (see pictures) and I like that they serve their food with sides to complete the meal. In my opinion, Reedz is great if you are sick of canteen food and want to pay slightly more for more "premium" food, but I'd recommend that you save that money and get their drinks instead. I didn't get drinks during this visit but their coffee really worth it for its quality and I've heard great things about their iced lemon tea too!
