Upper Thomson Road is soon becoming my favorite hangout place for post work dinner & dessert.

While exploring all the culinary delights along that stretch. Wafflelicious is a bright, cheery waffle speciality cafe that you will definitely not miss.

You can choose to sit inside the cool white concept air-con interior or enjoy the cool (only in the evening) Al fresco & soak in the area charm.

The cafe operates on a self service concept. You will need to walk into the cashier to make your order in 4 easy steps! The young staff managing the counter was friendly & helpful with suggestions, the tough part is making up your mind.

We selected Cinnamon and Passionfruit flavored waffles from the wide array of flavor choices completed with a scoop of Vanilla & Mango gelato ice cream. To taste the waffles with minimum distraction, additional toppings were given a miss.

I love the aroma of fresh waffles and the sweet taste of maple syrup mixed with ice cream and crispy waffles. The waffle flavors did not surface too much in the mix. I guess they made more of a difference before everything gets jumbled together.

Overall, this cafe is a great place for afternoon leisure chit chats or post dinner chill out sessions. Yummy waffles & gelato ice cream are reasonably priced and the staff are very friendly.

Korean BBQ that's Dae Bak! Smile Mar 27, 2012

The presence of the ‘elephant suction tubes’ above the BBQ grill which I have seen at almost all BBQ eateries in Seoul gave this restaurant a really authentic feel.

The minimal order for BBQ grill is 2 meat sets. Mom does not take beef and prefer non spicy hence we opted for Pork Belly & Marinated Pork Loin. After the order was taken by the korean waitress, a pot of red, hot glowing charcoal was placed in position and on came the heat!

The meat came shortly together with 7 side dishes which includes the ring of BBQ egg on the grill. I was pretty impressive with the egg idea. Its innovative, convenient & add colors to the grill.

Except for the cold salad like side dish that you see below, the rest of the side dishes were pretty disappointing. The kimchi wasn’t that great either.

The meat dishes however were the saving grace. The pork belly was tender & juicy (with melted fats) and tasted great any way you choose to eat it. I go for lettuce wraps while mom is contented to just have them with rice.

Did I mention the colors of the BBQ pork belly were gorgeous. The fatty parts practically melts in your mouth….

For the health conscious – Putting the meat on the grill longer for lower fat content but be warned that the meat will be alot less tender.

Next came the marinated pork loin. The helpful waitress help us to cut the chunky portions into smaller, manageable pieces. The marinated meat offers a tint of sweetness with each succulent bite you take. The meat has a fuller texture compared to the pork belly.

Overall a great dining experience, we really enjoyed the bonding session, the delicious meat sets & the entire smoke free BBQ process! Service was good too.

Paradise @ Thomson Plaza? OK Mar 27, 2012

We order the small portions versions of 4 dishes. The first to arrive was Crisp-fried crystal prawns in wasabi mayo sauce. The prawns were fresh and crunchy. Wasabi mayo offers just the right amount of kick, not too much to make you reel. Great dish, only complain was the quantity of prawns. Cost around $14 bucks and just a few prawns.

Next came Sauteed baby kailan with oyster sauce. Loved the crisp sound the fresh veg produce with every bite.

Chicken with honey & young ginger came in small bite size drumlets for easy sharing. Sweet, savory coating on the fried surface with tender meat underneath make this a really suitable finger food.

Pan fried egg omelette with preserved turnip. The dish is rather ordinary, can give it a miss.

I ended my meal with Red Bean Soup with Glutinous Rice Ball (Peanut filling). The rice ball looks as though it has been cooked or soaked for a long time. Bloated & slimy, should not have ordered this.

Overall the main courses are ok, rather pricey for the portions that’s served. My friends liked their desserts, guessed its just bad rice ball day for them.

According to Damian, the gourmet coffee here is potent. A single cup can keep one awake till the wee hours. So my friends, you have been warned.

Hence we steered clear of the poison & ordered this tropical waffle delight! The mere appearance is enough to whet your appetite. True to its name, this huge dessert serving 2 or more pax is a delightful mix of strawberry, mango & pineapple chunks with 3 basic ice cream flavours.

Pity I forgot to check the brand of ice cream that they are serving cos all 3 flavours tasted deliciously luxurious! The waffle was good even on its own. Glad we made the right choice for our dessert tonight!

This cafe is a great place for people watching but not good if you are looking for cozy heart to heart talk.

My Happy Prawn Mee Meal Smile Mar 27, 2012

Noo Cheng Adam Road Big Prawn Mee is quite a hit with the patrons of Adam Road Food Centre. Ok lor, so many people eat this, cannot go too wrong right.

We ordered smallest portion Pork Ribs Big Prawn Noodles ($5) & Pork Slices Big Prawn Noodles ($4). Suggestion: try mixing 2 different noodles together for a more textured bite & ask the auntie for more broth.

They have different prawn treatment for their Pork Ribs & Pork Slice options. The prawns for the Pork Ribs Noodles were kept intact while the prawns for the Sliced Pork Noodles were neatly cut into half for convenience.

My personal take is that the portion is relatively small for $4. The prawns are not really big as what the name suggested and perhaps not as fresh as I would like them to be. But the broth is definitely tasty and the good part is you can go back & request for a refill anytime.

Please pardon my service & ambience ratings as this is a hawker centre stall! Do not come here if you are looking out for chill out or good service. smile
