Carbonara Cry Jul 27, 2013
Categories : Food Court | Pasta

A set that comes with Carbonara and a garlic bread: $6.50
I wanted to order a different type of spaghetti (I think was the salmon and mushroom spaghetti) that was on the menu but the staff told me that it was not available. I was only able to choose from 4 different types of spaghetti that was available, even though they had more on the menu. Most of the items are not available sad
In the end, I ordered the Carbonara. I was given a buzzer and was told to go back and wait. I think this technology is good as the buzzer will vibrate once your order is ready. You do not have to stand and wait for a long time. I waited about 5 minutes before the buzzer buzz. For carbonara, what is important is the cream sauce. Their sauce is not thick and creamy enough, it seems that the sauce and the spaghetti does not blend in together. The sauce is quite watery. However, they do give a lot of bacon, but i would prefer the sauce to be much thicker and creamier.

Penang food Cry Jul 14, 2013
Categories : Malaysian | Halal

This shop is located at Jubilee Square and it is about a 5 to 10 mins walk for Ang Mo Kio interchange. My family and I went for dinner at around 7pm on a Saturday. We waited for a while before we get seats.

We ordered:

Lor Mee.

It came as a shock as I didn't imagine the soup to be so black. The soup was not salty as it seems. However, it was tasteless with a unique herb taste. The only good point is that the Lor Mee has a lot of ingredients in it.

Curry Chicken with Rice.

My dad ordered this and it was not that spicy. I personally like curry that is not spicy as I cannot take spicy food. For my brother who love spiciness, he thought that this dish was not that fantastic. The chicken in the curry was overcooked, it was quite tough to bite.

The only dish to recommend is their Fried Kuey Teow. I had forgotten to take a picture of the nicest dish.

steamboat dinner Cry Apr 15, 2013
Categories : Steamboat/Hot Pot

My friends and I actually heard and saw alot of good reviews about this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try and was having quite a high expectation for the food. We went there at around 7pm, there were no seats so we were 2nd on the waiting list. We left one of our contact number with them and the staff will call us when there are seats. While waiting, we could go shop around vivo which was good. We finally got seats at 7.30pm, half an hour of waiting time.

For this steamboat, each person actually have their own pot of soup, so each one of us could choose whichever flavour we like. Looking at the menu, we came across this dinner set which cost $98++ for 4 person. Just nice that there were 4 of us so we decided to order this instead of ala carte, thinking that it will be more worth.
As for the soup, i decided to go for the JPOT superior,

However when the food came, we were actually quite shocked at the amount of food that was in the dinner set! Was that all the food that was in the set dinner?

Seafood platter. There were 4 of us, and by sharing it equally, each one of us only have 2 prawns, 1 slice of fish, 1 slice of squid, 2 pieces of scallop!

There are only 2 quail eggs for the 4 of us?
There are still rice, laska noodles, vegetable, enoki mushroom and fried wonton(not in picture). That's is all in the dinner set and the portion is so little. Most importantly, it cost $98++. which cost close to $30 per person.
The variety of food is already so little, and the portion is so small!
This meal was disappointing, most of the time we were drinking the soup to fill our stomach. Although the food are fresh, but the food portion is way too little and is so expensive. We are not sure whether it will be cheaper by ordering ala carte, perhaps...

Spending per head: Approximately $29(Dinner)

IPPUDO ramen OK Jul 28, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Ramen

Everyone in your group of friends must be here before you can get seats, or you will not get seats. We were lucky enough to get seats before the queue starts forming outside the shops. When we were looking through the menu, we then realized that the queue started forming within minutes and it was so long. the place looks very high class and it has the feel of some fine dinning. By saying so, the area is actually quite small. However, they fully utilized their tables. They have long tables and yes, you have to share table with other people.

There are a few choices for their soup base and the ingredients that you want in your ramen. I ordered the IPPUDO Original tonkotsu. With the addition of the flavoured egg, it cost $3 more. Since i really loved the flavoured eggs, i ordered it but i find it quite expensive. There are other add ons that you can add, such as the cha shu, etc. What is unique is that you are able to choose the texture of your noodles, whether you want it medium or hard. The waiter actually recommended us the hard type but i goes with the medium since i like my ramen softer. The soup base was nice. However, i find the bowl of ramen quite expensive. Even though they have the fine dinning atmosphere, the bowl of ramen is not that worth of the price of $20.

love shaped carrot cake OK Jul 27, 2013
Categories : Singaporean | Hawker Centre | Brunch

It is the first time i saw a heart shaped carrot cake. It came with one whole piece and it made me wondered how the stall uncle actually cooked and made it. The shape is indeed very unique. The uncle is very friendly and he joked around too. He actually asked my friend whether she wanted the chilli sauce to be put on the left or the right side of the plate. The uncle is really very funny, joking around with my friend.
The display was really nice and it really brighten up our day. The carrot cake is quite normal and it tasted quite blend. I feel that more seasonings should be put and chye poh should be included as i will prefer it more salty.
