A late lunch OK Apr 15, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Ramen

My friends and I reach the shop past 2pm but the staff was nice and we were still able to order the lunch menu which supposedly have ended. There are 3 soup choices for the ramen, the black, red or white Musashi. I choose the white soup duck ramen, and it comes with a side. There are a few sides to choose from too. I choose the chicken karaage.

The soup base was thick and was quite salty. I cannot imagine how salty will the black and red soup be. However, the ramen was nice and it saved the soup.
This meal was a late lunch so there wasn't alot of people in the shop, yet i feel that the area is too small. There were only a few seats and i do not think it can accommodate the large number of customers during the peak period.

Spending per head: Approximately $12(Lunch)

steamboat dinner Cry Apr 15, 2013

Categories : Steamboat/Hot Pot

My friends and I actually heard and saw alot of good reviews about this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try and was having quite a high expectation for the food. We went there at around 7pm, there were no seats so we were 2nd on the waiting list. We left one of our contact number with them and the staff will call us when there are seats. While waiting, we could go shop around vivo which was good. We finally got seats at 7.30pm, half an hour of waiting time.

For this steamboat, each person actually have their own pot of soup, so each one of us could choose whichever flavour we like. Looking at the menu, we came across this dinner set which cost $98++ for 4 person. Just nice that there were 4 of us so we decided to order this instead of ala carte, thinking that it will be more worth.
As for the soup, i decided to go for the JPOT superior,

However when the food came, we were actually quite shocked at the amount of food that was in the dinner set! Was that all the food that was in the set dinner?

Seafood platter. There were 4 of us, and by sharing it equally, each one of us only have 2 prawns, 1 slice of fish, 1 slice of squid, 2 pieces of scallop!

There are only 2 quail eggs for the 4 of us?
There are still rice, laska noodles, vegetable, enoki mushroom and fried wonton(not in picture). That's is all in the dinner set and the portion is so little. Most importantly, it cost $98++. which cost close to $30 per person.
The variety of food is already so little, and the portion is so small!
This meal was disappointing, most of the time we were drinking the soup to fill our stomach. Although the food are fresh, but the food portion is way too little and is so expensive. We are not sure whether it will be cheaper by ordering ala carte, perhaps...

crab dinner! Smile Apr 09, 2013

My friend recommend this crab place which is opposite Mayflower Secondary School.
We decided to give it a try. We reached at around 7plus and there was a queue even on a weekday night. It was fully packed and we waited for around 20 minutes before we got seats. However while waiting, we could order our food first. Looking through the different type of crab dishes of different cooking style, we wanted to try as many as possible. We wanted to order 2 types of crabs but we were told by the staffs that there are only BIG crabs left which cost more than $80 each. There are no more smaller crabssad
We could only order 1 crab in order to be within our budget. So we ordered the chilli crab with mantou!
As we went into the shop, there were lots of crab shell framed and hang on the walls. Alot of celebrities had visited the shop before and many signed on the crab shell and was framed up. It was an interesting sight and it includes oversea celebrities.

Chilli Crab! It was abit too spicy for all of us. Luckily, we ordered drinks!

Mantou to dip into the chilli crab sauce.

A big plate of fried rice to be shared among the 6 of us.

Stir fried Nai bai, ordered green vegetables to be healthysmile

As it was a big crab, there were alot of crab meat and the meal make us quite full!

Omu Rice! Smile Mar 25, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Café | Desserts and Cakes | Ramen

The new section of plaza singapura made us spoilt for food choices and we walked around deciding on a place to have our dinner.
My friends and I finally decided to have dinner at Hoshino Coffee as the food display outside their shop caught our eyes. Even though those food items on display are fake but it looks so appetizing that we decided to give it a try. There was a queue as it was dinner time on a weekend. We waited for around 15minutes before we got seats.
All the food on the menu looks appetizing. We ordered Lobster Bisque Spaghetti, Tomato Omu Rice, Maple pancake and a matcha parfait to be shared among us. We did not wait very long for the food to be served.

The hot pipping OMU RICE is served. One must have thought that it is just rice wrapped inside an omelette. However, the sweet and unique sauce makes the taste so special. The sauce blends in very well with the rice and the egg. We finished the whole plate of rice even before the next dish was served. The taste was just awesome.

We have all been waiting for the lobster Bisque spaghetti. I find the spaghetti quite hard. If the spaghetti is cooked longer and is softer, this dish would be perfect. I like the sauce as there is a sweet taste to it.

This is the maple pancake. It is very unique as it is not the normal kind, it is so fluffy and thick. It is quite soft in the inside. The pancake is still hot in the inside even though we left it for a while before we ate, as it is served before our main course.

Matcha parfait.
There are banana, jelly cubes, biscuits, cornflakes mixed together in the matcha parfait. The cornflakes was nice when it is being mixed and eaten together with the parfait. I feel that there should be more matcha ice cream as now, there are too many sides mixed in the ice cream.

Overall, we are satisfied with this meal and the food was AWESOME!

lunch cum tea time OK Mar 24, 2013

Categories : Bakery | Desserts and Cakes

Went round Rochester Mall and finally found Obolo. It is at one corner of the Rochester Mall, not so prominent. It is a five minutes walk from Bouna Vista MRT station.
The shop was quite small and only 2 groups of people are able to sit inside their shop. There are more seats outside the shop, outdoor, which will not be ideal on a hot sunny day.
My friend and I are quite lucky as when we arrive, a group of people just left and we got to sit indoor. The cakes on display are appealing but we wanted to try some main course first. We ordered chicken avocado caesar, fluffy pancake stack with a add on soup of the day.

Soup of the day- mushroom soup, which cost $3 as is a add on soup on top of our pancake.
It tasted different from the usual mushroom soup as there is a strong taste of the mushroom. The after taste was a bit weird too, so I do not like it very much

The salad was awesome. Love the breadcrumbs, slices of avocado and the dressing. However, the chicken was a little too hard, perhaps it's overcooked. The serving portion was bigger than expected and is filling.

There are only 3 mini slices of the pancake, with butter, mapple syrup and berry jam. It tasted very normal, nothing special. This dish cost $9+ and i feel that it is too expensive. The pancakes are the mini ones.

Finally, it's time for dessert and we ordered the sea salt caramel cheesecake which was the blogger choice.

This cake didnt disappoint us. It was awesome. It is not very sweet, and have a balanced flavour of the caramel. I like this dish the most. The cake came with a free pot of earl grey tea and it tasted bitter.
Their cakes are a must try!
