BlackBall Smile Aug 04, 2013
Categories : Taiwanese | Chinese Desserts | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Tried BlackBall from the first time at Bugis +. It is located at one corner and there are seats outside and in the store. I went on a saturday evening and it was packed, full house. We will have to stand and wait for a while before we get seats. It is free sitting, so you will have to look out for people who are finishing their food, and wait beside them. The shop is originated from Taiwan and is said to be the NO 1. Grass jelly dessert there.

The menu.
You could request from the staff that you would like a copy of the menu. My groups of friends were "blocking the counter" while looking at the menu when the staff passed us a copy of the menu so that we could go back to our seats to take a look, decide before ordering. Their menu have pictures and detailed descriptions of their desserts. They sell alot of desserts which includes bubble tea as well. We ordered their blackball signature to try! You can choose to have it warm, hot, cold or icy.

Blackball signature ($4.90 per bowl)
We ordered 2 bowls to be shared among the 4 of us.

Milk is being mixed together with it. It has a perfect combination of YamQ, golden sweet potato, yam balls, sweet potato balls, red beans, pearls and grass jelly. The grass jelly is really smooth and it will just melt in your mouth, no wonder they are the No 1 grass jelly dessert in taiwan. The grass jelly is awesome! The combination of all those chewy balls are great. It is very similar to our Singapore BOBOCHACHA! The only difference is that it has much more combinations/ingredients than the bobochacha. It is really a MUST TRY! I will definitely go back to try the other desserts and their bubble tea.

Royal pudding Smile Jul 31, 2013

Finally get to try Paris Baguette and i only knew it today that the shop was actually from KOREA! They are famous for their royal pudding and it comes in alot of flavours. They put bottles of royal pudding at the entrance of their shop and the small little bottles indeed looks very nice. They have the original, mango, durian, strawberry and caramel. They sell different flavours on different day. On the day i went, there were only the original and the mango flavour on sale. Hence, my friends and I bought one flavour each to share. Their cakes really look very pretty in the fridge and we decided to order one to share.

Mango and original flavour royal pudding.
After trying, i think whats unique is their smooth pudding. It totally melt in your mouth when you eat it. However, i find it too expensive as it cost $4 for the small bottle of pudding(original). It costs $4.50 for those with other flavours. I do admit that the container is cute.

This is A Tiramisu
I will not recommend this. This moment i put it in my mouth, i was choked by the tiramisu powder! The top coating is totally filled with powder and it is really a bad experience. We had already cut it into small pieces before putting it in our mouth but yet most of my friends including me got choked by the overpowering powder.

A pretty strawberry cake. Really love the cake as it has many layers and you can really feel it in your mouth. It seems like you are able to feel the chef hearts and soul into making the cake as it is really quite unique with the different layers of taste you feel when eating it.

bak kut teh Smile Jul 31, 2013

Categories : Chinese Soup | Bak Kut Teh

There is difficulty looking for parking spaces if you drive there. There are very few parking spaces as the shop is located along the shop houses. Good food will not stop us! If you are going by nearest transport, take tai Seng. Their shop has the old and traditional feel and it feels like you are in the past.

Their menu has photographs to come with the names of their dishes and everything looks appealing in there. There will be a slip of paper and you will have to tick the dishes that you want, go to the counter and pay first.

We ordered: (bottom left, anti clockwise direction in the picture)
1. pork rib soup
2. Premium Loin Ribs (supposedly the bigger kind of pork rib)
3. Pig Kidney soup
4. Peanuts
5. Pig's stomach soup
6. kai lan
7. Dry Pig's Tendon (not in picture)
I think all the prices all reasonable and we expected it to be much more expensive.
Firstly, their pork rib soup is not too peppery and it tasted really good! The pork ribs were not hard. It has the chewy feeling. I will really recommend their dry pig tendon as it is really very unique. It is my first time eating in a spicy, fried in dark soya sauce.

What's good is that they give free tea! yes, the traditional chinese tea. There are kettles around which you are able to go and refill to make your tea. You just have to keep pouring the hot water over the tea and let it settle down before you pour it into your small cupssmile
It is indeed a traditional experience

Astons Smile Jul 28, 2013

Categories : Steaks and Grills

It is my first time visiting the Astons outlet at Scape. It is located at the third level, beside sakae sushi. My colleagues and I visited the outlet at around 2pm and we got seats quite fast. Looking around, we thought that our order would not take long but we waited for about 20 minutes before our food is served. I think the waiting time is too long, looking around and seeing that there wasn't much waiting orders to be served.
I ordered the hickory BBQ chicken! i will always order this set as i like their sweet sauce and it really bring out the taste when eaten with the chicken. Every set you ordered comes with 2 choices of sides. I always order this 2 sides and i will recommend it! I will choose the baked potato and pasta salad. Most of their side dishes that are potato, such as mashed potato or potato wedges are all very nice as i have tried it before. However not to have a meal full of potato, i will choose the 2nd side which is not potato. Their baked potato comes with the butter and you can actually request for more butter. The baked potato is actually quite big and it is quite filling. The other side is actually pasta salad and i really love the pasta being quite soft. It is really a satisfying meal, besides the long waiting time.

Birthday cake Smile Jul 28, 2013
Categories : Bakery

Most of my birthday cakes this year are from BreadTalk since we shared the same birthday month. BreadTalk will always have promotions when it is their birthday month which is in July too. This year they are 13th years old and they have a mega huge promotion for their breads and cakes.
They have:

3 sliced cakes for the price $6.80. It is really very cheap as the original price of their sliced cake is about $3-$4. They only have promotion for this 3 flavours. They are Peanut Butter Overload, Kaya Kebaya and Pineapple gem. You are able to mix the flavours and so i got 3 different flavours to try it out. I really like the Peanut Butter Overload as there is really a strong peanut butter taste. Peanut butter lovers will really love it! I can say that all the 3 flavours are nice and it is very worth for the price that you are paying.

They is also $10 off classic cakes and my family got this for me on my birthday. It is a fruit cake and i like it very much. There are alot of strawberries at the top and there are secrets in the cake layers. There are fruits in between the cake layers, which includes small pieces of peaches. I really like it as the cake is not that sweet!
I would really recommend bread talk cakes as they are fresh and nice!
