Jamie's Italian! Smile Jul 15, 2013
Categories : Italian | Pasta | Seafood

I visited Jamie's Italian in Sydney and have fond memories. Finally it's here in Singapore.

The decor of the place is so pretty, cosy and comfortable. There is a hot kitchen and another antipasti and dessert kitchen. Both open concept.

I ordered their exclusive beer specially brewed just for them by Archipelago. It was a very light beer that has a hint of sweetness and ends with bitter note. It was not as special as I think it will be, definitely not the best beer I had tasted.

For starters, I ordered truffle oil fries and cheese. It was such a heavenly dish. Ok I am biased because I love the smell of truffle, anything with it is good and that they had cheese to top it off. It was really yummy!

I also ordered baked mushrooms. The mushroom was crunchy and the sides of the round dish, it tasted something like crispy wanton skin. Pretty interesting, I thought. Very tasty dish of course.

For main course, I tried the prawn pasta recommended by their GM. I loved it. It's tomato based but it has a bit of spice and salt. There is so much flavour in the pasta sauce. Linguine was a little hard but they said that's how Italians like their pasta to be. I have no issues lol

Finally for dessert, I ordered vinsanto chocolate cake in a pot. There is vinsanto ice cream (with bit of liquer) on the top, fluffy light cake in the centre and rich chocolate cake at the bottom of the cup. I am a chocolate fan, I really like this dessert. It's very interesting again because there are so many kinds of texture in one mouth!

Singapore style steamboat Smile May 21, 2013

My friend had been raving about J Pot for sometime and I am just curious what's the big deal about this place because there are so many steamboat place in Singapore.

We finally went to try it. The aircon environment was comfortable, service was also friendly. Order taking was quite a breeze as they uses iPad where we can self order,

There were lots of soup base thats to local flavour to choose and I finally settled on the classic JPot Superior Broth ($5.80) with a mix of both pork and chicken bones and the Bak Kut Teh.

We ordered quite a number of dishes and my personal favourite was Premium Wagyu Ribeye, it was tender and tasty. Pork Belly and Jumbo Pork Ball.

The food were fresh, service was quick. The only disappointing dish was the sliced fish.

Overall, the meal was very enjoyable, their longan drink that was free flow was very nice as well.

Luxurious indulgence OK May 14, 2013

Was feeling the need to pamper myself, I walked into TWG and wanted to have tea. There were awful lots of choices. There were so many interestingly named flavors to select.

I finally decided on Chocolate Tea. The aroma that came out of the golden teapot and cup was indeed chocolaty. I was hoping to taste chocolate when I drank the tea but it wasn't. It tasted like tea. Haha.

Not feeling satisfied, I needed some sugar rush and so ordered some macaroons.

The TWG Macaroon shells are really crisp and crumbly outside, but moist and chewy inside, with a thick tasty filling.

If you have a sweet tooth, you surely will like their macaroons

CUPCAKES Smile Mar 16, 2013
Categories : Bakery | Desserts and Cakes | Kids-Friendly

Growing up, I never really liked cupcakes. Had never tasted any cupcakes that made me feel like having more.

Until one day, an ex colleague walked into the office with this bright pink box and offered us a cupcake.

He was like, you got to try this. It's from daniel ong and jaime's shop. I was like ok lor. so?

I ate it and I was going hmm hmm wow wow till I finished the chocolate chocolate.
The cake was moist, tasty and the cream is super nice. It's not those cheap tasting whip cream that after you eat you feel that you had wasted your calories.

Ever since that 1 cupcake treat. I started to have cravings, and everytime I am invited to gatherings or birthday parties, I will definitely bring a box enough for everyone to try!

Swedish....  Smile Mar 16, 2013

It's not very easy to find swedish food. Besides maybe at that big furniture shop.

We went to this pretty little shop tucked at Beach Road.
Restaurant was set and decorated like someone's house. It feels very nice and cosy. White walls, interesting pieces of furniture and decors. It feels good to be in the restuarant.

We ordered a few items, Baked pasta, Meat Balls, Lobster combo and ended of with desserts.

I sometimes run out of words to describe goodness. But every dish that we ordered was really good.
The taste, quality and even the food portion was pretty impressive I must say.

You should make a trip if you have not ate in this pretty restuarant.
