Deep Fried Chicken Ramen Set OK May 08, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Restaurant | Noodles | Rice

My first try at Just Acia. I chose the promotion set meal which you have 6 of them to choose from at affordable price.

Just fill up the self order form, order and pay at the cashier. They will serve up the necessary for you except drinks and desserts. Yes their drinks and assorted ice cream are free flow. We can choose from the variety. I had their cold Homemade Milk Tea. Nice. Not so sweet.

I ordered Deep Fried Chicken Ramen set. The ramen doesn't look appealing and the taste is average. But the noodles are well-cooked. The deep fried chicken is crispy. The small plate of kimchi (I think) is crunchy and nice. Overall the set meal is quite satisfying because I left with no rooms for their ice cream. Quite a waste.

Will come again for others in their menu.

Japanese snacks OK May 04, 2013

Went few times but never buy anything until now. Because it is quite pricey but at least you can get something which is, to me, quite exclusive and not all places in Singapore sell it unless they import in.

I actually bought Macha Kit Kat Mini $9 and Pocky Panda $2.50 which has a cute packaging. Then at the counter, the cashier asked if I want to purchase a rice snack at $1 so I decided to try. Seaweed flavour. Why not? I love seaweed. And also I find that there is not much customers too so hope to boost a little of their sales with my purchase (though it won't help) so that we can have snacks from Japan. Okay I know sometimes you can find it at Cold Storage but there is limitation to their imports too.

So once awhile if you crave for Japanese snacks but it is not available at Daiso (which is cheaper), try your luck at Yamakawa when you have extra money to spare for some indulgence.

Lunch with Bruce OK Apr 30, 2013
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Café | Dim Sum | Noodles | Kids-Friendly

Decided to have lunch at NUS University Town because there are quite a few eateries there such as Subway, Fish & Co Express, Koufu, Wang's Cafe and so on. Bruce Cafe is there too so I give it a shot first before others.

It is lunch time 12.30pm and the cafe is not really crowded. The environment is quite quiet and decorations around are so-so but with lots of Bruce Lee's paintings, that's why it is called Bruce Cafe.

They have Special Set Menu to choose from and I chose Set D: Luncheon Meat and Egg with Instant noodles which comes with a salad spring roll and dessert. The drink is surprisingly, free. And the drink of the day is Milk Tea so I got that one too. And their dessert is assorted ice cream. No way to choose from their menu of desserts. Fine, since it comes with the set.
Milk Tea

Milk Tea

Milk Tea: Served up first. Like the mug. But minus point: I was getting some sugar for my milk tea and I found ant in it. Total turn off.

Luncheon meat and egg with instant noodles: Average taste. Yup I have expected it to be real instant noodles along with carrot strips and vegetables. Plain. As compared to other cafes for the same noodles, their taste are much more different. Maybe it is not just purely those packet seasoning.

Salad spring roll: Served cold. The appearance doesn't make it quite appetizing, maybe because it is not brown and crispy enough. Like it is named, there is pineapple and other cocktail fruits in it.

Dessert: Assorted ice cream. I skip that because I'm full already.

The total bill add up to $7.50 (inclusive of service charge, no GST).

Reasonable priced for everything from main course, side dish, dessert and drink.

No discount for this set. I will come again if I run out of ideas on what to eat.

New try out for the folks OK Apr 29, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Kids-Friendly

Was my dad's birthday and decided to bring the folks for something new rather than just purely coffeeshop food, though is nice and cheap. Decided to settle with Kungfu Paradise because I wanted them to try the Custard buns. So we head to the nearest outlet from our home at JCube.

Not realising that actually I have ordered stuff that I like rather than what the folks prefer. Luckily I helped them with the choices.

Mum had spaghetti, which is non spicy (preferred by her) and is a big plate and wasn't able to finish. Quite average, just like spaghetti bolognese, very tomato feel. Plus point is that the mushrooms are quite a bit and nice.

Dad had Tom yum soup with rice. The ingredients inside is pathetic. Small bits of mushroom, squids, some vegetables and so on. Not worth trying. Better off doing it at home with the paste and all sort of ingredients that you want.

I have ordered finger food like the truffle fries and seafood platter. Both are still worth. Do have that.

For all of us, I ordered 6 custard buns. Seriously, you need to have it once it is served so as to taste the warm custard flowing out. It really tastes like some nice sand is melting in your mouth. But when it is cold, no longer taste good.

Last of all, Gongbao chicken. My guy has that and he feels average. It is very dry. Not worth trying.

As for the drinks, try the hot honey lemon. It is nice and soothing.

The total bill add up to $90 for 5 pax. Quite expensive for an average restaurant. Will not come back for proper meal but maybe for their finger food.

Crab Birthday Dinner OK Apr 27, 2013
Categories : Seafood | Zi Char

My first time patronising Long Beach although is so near my house and since is my birthday, a good reason to try out.

Being the first timer but with some experience having crabs, we order the most common one, Chilli Crab.

The lady server said this season is best to try Sri Lankan crab because of the good amount of crab eggs. So we order 1kg at about $52++ for 2 pax.

We order also a small size Deer Meat with Ginger and Live Prawn Fried Rice.

Deer Meat with Ginger: Meat is tender and chewy, goes well with the sauce.

Live Prawn Fried Rice: Quite bland for the rice but probably is good because not too much of seasoning, prawns are springy and that means is fresh.

Sri Lankan Chilli crab: Suppose to be Chilli crab taste but more of sweet and sour, the crab meat a little overcooked and lost the taste, probably is not fresh one. Plus point is, lots of crab eggs.
