Another Tau Sar Piah Choice Smile May 14, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Bakery | Sweets/Snack

Another choice for all to choose from if you are a tau sar piah lover. This shop is just nearby Loong Fatt and can feel the competition.

But there are much variety here and my dad bought Green Tea flavour back. That is his favourite. Though I am more used to the traditional taste (salty and sweet type) but when I took a bite, it changes my mind. The green tea fillings within actually can blend in with the flaky skin of tau sar piah. Well done. And it is also not that sweet and the green tea taste is at its right level.

As compared with Loong Fatt, it is at $0.70 per piece ($0.10 more). But is not really that significant. So it doesn't matter. I have actually tried the red bean paste flavour previously and is a little sweet.

Do try their variety to determine your favourite one. A modern type of tau sar piah.

Traditional Choice Smile May 14, 2013

This traditional tau sar piah was featured in Royston Tan's Old Places and is worth reminiscing the taste.

It is priced at $0.60 per piece with two types to choose from: salty and sweet. And my dad will usually buy both back home and each time 10 pieces each. The taste is good. The saltiness and sweetness of their filling is just right and the skin is so flaky.

I have taste it for number of times after watching Old Places because my dad's office is somehow near there. Though I did not went to the shop personally but I heard from my dad that it is actually a coffeeshop that sells not just their famous tau sar piah but also other pastries.

Will go personally there one day for some nostalgia feel.

Beef Noodles Smile May 12, 2013

Categories : Hawker Centre | Chinese Soup | Kids-Friendly

Went out on Labour Day with my parents for a historical walk and then we stopped by Alexandra Village Food Centre for our lunch. There are lots of stalls to choose from but I chose to have beef noodles. Because not many places are selling and when there is, just eat it!

This stall has been featured in a variety show so it gives me more reasons to try.

I ordered a dry beef noodles as I have tried the soup elsewhere but it is not actually that tasty but if you wanna have something light, that will be your choice.

You can't tell from the looks of it but your first mouthful, it captures your taste buds. The white noodles mix with their gravy is tasty. I can smell a bits of herbal from their gravy. Wonder if they make the gravy with that. The beef is chewy and easily tear apart. It is not cooked for long and just nice. Some tends to overcook the beef and it hardens up. Also the stall owner added a small amount of pickled mustard into it.

Overall, the bowl of beef noodles is simple and nice, unlike some which have lots of ingredients in it and thus giving a confusing mixture of taste.

Gingko nut beancurd Smile May 09, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Desserts and Cakes | Ice Cream and Gelato | Juices

I had tried their many products from pancakes, soya bean milk to puddings. Nice and healthy.

So this time round, I tried on their Gingko Nut beancurd ($2). The benefits of gingko nut is to improve circulation to the coronary artery and the brain, fight against aging, sharpen memory, and help treat Alzheimer’s disease.

The taste of both blends well. I asked for 50% sugar for my beancurd so is not too sweet. The gingko nut is a little overcooked though it is still nice with that real little bits of bitterness.

Products from Mr Bean is good. Some have gotten the HPB's Healthier Choice logo. So why not just try their products without feeling guilty, especially those on diet? It benefits our health and better choice of snacking.

So cheese! Smile May 06, 2013   (Related Review)

As usual at Starbucks, I just can't resist their Hot Chocolate. I had it without cream, to reduce that bits of sinfulness. tongue lol So for lunch today, is the usual one plus redeeming my complimentary cake with my Starbucks Card because is my birthday. Well that's the benefit of having their card.

So my Signature Hot Chocolate goes along with their Cookie Crumble Cheesecake. What a combination!

Anyway I seldom have cheesecake but this one is awesome. Every mouthful of their cheesecake is so smooth and it is actually overwhelming the cookie crumbles on top and within. Believe it or not, do try it. Savour every mouthful, with a sip of the Hot Chocolate. A nice cheese lunch. lol
