New Cakes OK Oct 06, 2013

I walked past NYDC and their new selection of cakes caught my eye, and I decided to get 3 slices of cakes home. I got the Ode to My Cheesecake ($6.80) - chocolate mousse and cheesecake with an oreo base: this was pretty alright, although I preferred the other cheesecake they have with a smooth velvety layer of chocolate on top. I also had the 24 Carrot Gold ($6.80) - your typical carrot cake, nothing unique. Lastly, I had grasp rasp, some raspberry cake, which was a little too sweet.

I was craving for some sushi so I decided to stop by Sakae Sushi at Heartland Mall to get some takeaways. I waited for more than 15 mins before my food was ready, although they weren't much customers as it wasn't peak lunch or dinner hours. The tempura prawn handroll ($2.30) wasn't good as the batter was very soggy when I got home; the mini don with scallops ($4.50) was disappointing as well as the scallops weren't fresh. I liked the fried oysters sushi ($4.20) though, crispy and I loved the roe.

Noodles OK Oct 06, 2013

This might be a good place to have an inexpensive and fuss free meal in clarke quay. I decided to try their noodles, which is somewhat like ban mian, with lots of dark soy sauce added. It's a little too oily for my liking, but apart from that it's your average noodles. The fried beancurd skin was good and went well with the noodles. However, they could do with more veggies.

Bear Paw Buns OK Oct 06, 2013

Having read about their cute bear paw buns I specially made a trip down to try it. They have different flavoured buns for you to choose from (but there really isn't much difference): milk, brown sugar, squid ink, yam, and you can choose between chicken or fish and the sauce you want. Quite economical as it costs $7.80 for a set with fries and a bottled drink. They were having some fb promo so I got to upgrade to cheese fries, which were good. The bun is pretty average. I also tried their gelato bun - yam bun with salted biscuit gelato ($3.80); ice cream is below average. Overall cute buns, but I won't return specially for it.

Avoid the pizza OK Oct 05, 2013

I got to know Working Title from a Groupon deal, and decided to give it a try. We had tater tots ($5) - mini hashbrowns with truffle oil and grated parmesan cheese; this was good and the truffle taste distinct, and is inexpensive. My friend had their burger with a side of tortilla chips ($9): burger was quite small and the beef patty average. I had their Chicken Proscuitto New Yorker pizza ($16) - which has ham and onions; I didn't want onions on it but they said that the pizza was already pre-made, that perhaps sheds lights on why the pizza is not tasty at all - crust was limp and not crispy, toppings were mediocre; even frozen Dr Oetker pizza tastes better. They have lots of different imported beers. It might be a better idea to skip the mains and just go for drinks.
