Awful Cheesy Chicken Cry Jul 29, 2013   (Related Review)

My friend wanted to try 49 seats and I went along having tried their tom yum pasta which was alright. I ordered the chicken with cheese, with an option of 2 sides (i chose fries and mashed potato), for about $16.90; it was a bad choice as the chicken was not well grilled, and the tomato puree added on top of the cheese spoiled the taste of the dish. They do not serve water, so I topped up $4.90 for a drink (the cup was so small you could finish it at one go easily) and soup; mushroom soup was not memorable.

I wanted to try something else from this stall and decided to ask for salted egg sotong, as I'm quite a fan of salted egg stuff. However, I made the wrong choice, as the salted egg sotong was very disappointing. It was stir-fried with eggs and salted egg, but there was no salted egg taste; rather, the ginger taste was more distinct. At $12 a plate, I didn't like it at all. Heard that they have one of the best chilli crabs, so better to stick to that instead of other stuff in future.

Fish Baked Rice Cry Jul 20, 2013   (Related Review)

I was looking to take away something for lunch and decided on Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe. After looking through the menu, I decided on the fish baked rice, which costs $10.90. It didn't take too long for them to prepare my order even though it was quite filled with people. The portion looks small but is actually extremely filling, I could only finish half of it. I didn't really like the fish, which is your typical frozen dory. They basically placed the fish on top of the rice and added tomato sauce and baked it with cheese. Wouldn't recommend it unless you really like tomato sauce and soft, lumpy, fish.

Durian Chilled Beancurd Cry Jul 18, 2013

I have tried their original and mango flavoured beancurd before and didn't quite like the mango flavoured one. This time, I bought the durian flavoured one for $2; it wasn't as watery and diluted as the one I've eaten previously, but I really didn't like the durian flavour. It was artificial, and slightly sweet without the fragrance of durian. Wouldn't recommend it.

Chicken Cry Jul 17, 2013   (Related Review)

Despite having tried Jollibee previously and feeling disappointed after high expectations, my friend wanted to try it when we were at orchard, so I was forced to eat it again. It turns out that Jollibee is really average. The sauce for the rice is not flavourful at all. The fried chicken was still not up to scratch. The batter was bland as compared to KFC or Popeyes. It was not overly oily but it was just not as tasty as the other fried chicken branches. You are not losing out if you haven't tried.
