Mini cream puffs Cry Jun 05, 2013

The cream puffs look cute as they are miniature in size, and one would inevitably be attracted by the Puff Girl as their shop icon. Got a box of their cream puffs but was disappointed - the puffs were not flavourful, the crust was very tough and tasteless, and the cream within was quite bland tasting. Beard papa is still one of the better cream puff stores around. Be sure to give Puff Girl a miss.

Jap Food Cry May 09, 2013

I have always liked dining at sushi tei because the food is better (in my opinion) than sakae sushi. However, I was rather disappointed this time. I ordered the fried vegetable tempura rice, as I have tried their tempura before and was not bad. The vegetable tempura I had was very oily, and there was nothing else other than that and plain rice. I couldn't even finish half of it. Not recommended to try this dish.

On my previous visit I tried the almond flavoured chilled beancurd, so I wanted to try something different this time round. I was torn between the yam and lychee flavoured one, and finally decided to try the lychee flavoured one - all flavoured chilled beancurd costs $1.50, so no harm trying new flavours. However, turned out that i made a bad choice, as the lychee taste was not strong, and it tasted somehow weird, like cough mixture. Not recommended to try the lychee one.

Avoid the wraps Cry Apr 23, 2013   (Related Review)

My second visit which was rather disappointing. Went to chock full of beans for their set lunch after having tried their cake set the other time round. Chose the chicken wrap, which tasted horrible; it was basically pieces of chicken with greens wrapped with a whole grain pita bread. It was so hard to swallow, even subway tastes much better. Also, my friend didn't want coffee that day, and wanted to top up more money for their hot chocolate instead (50 cents difference between their cappuccino listed on the original menu) because she didn't want a caffeinated drink, but they flatly refused and the reason given was that it will confuse their staff (there were only 2 tables occupied that day by the way). How inflexible, and totally ruined our lunch. The only good thing about that meal was the cute latte art - I got a totoro. So all in all, go for the coffee, but not the food.

Breeks used to be popular in the past as a western food joint but I guess its standards have dropped (or was never there?). Was looking for a place to eat and there was a long queue everywhere, so I decided to have a meal at Breeks (which explains the lack of a queue). Staff were friendly and promptly served drinking water and made some recommendations. Chose the spicy fish with rice, which was a bad choice, as the rice wasn't to my liking, and the fish, your typical frozen dory fillet.
