Avoid the pork chop Cry Apr 21, 2013

Located on the 2nd storey of Heartland Mall, this outlet of New York New York looks rather uninviting. Decided to have dinner there as I wanted to have western food. Ordered the pork chop which comes with mashed potato (or fries if you'd prefer). although nachos are listed in the description in the menu, you'd have to ask for it and the amount given is really quite miserable. Pork chop was rubbery and very tough to swallow. Service was pretty good though.

Looks are deceiving Cry Apr 20, 2013

Having heard of the cute little Dirt Cake, I specially made a trip to Vanilla Bar & Cafe to give it a try. Nevertheless, looks are deceiving. Although I have gone knowing beforehand that it is merely vanilla ice cream topped with oreo crumbs (on the top and at the botton), I expected better ice cream. The ice cream was horrible, so buttery that I could detect small chunks of butter not spread evenly, and it was overly sweet; I couldn't bring myself to finish it despite its irresistible appearance. What a disappointment. Even Oreo McFlurry tastes better (although losing on presentation).

Not worth a try Cry Apr 19, 2013

A fan of chilled soya beancurd ever since I've tried laoban and the like, I will tend to try out other stalls whenever i come across them. Having tried more than 10 different stalls, Food Lingo chilled beancurd is rather disappointing. It is not as silky as laoban or 51, and it tastes different from them as well, not sure how to describe the taste but it has an "eggish" flavour to it.

Chiffon Cheese Cry Apr 18, 2013
Categories : Bakery | Halal

Bought this baby chiffon cheese for breakfast. It used to be heart-shaped so it looked more presentable. It is actually your average chiffon cake, and although it is cheese flavoured, there is really no cream cheese within, but small tiny cubes of cheese, which are hard, and it doesn't taste that good when you happen to bite on the cheese when you have finished most of the chiffon cake

wide variety of dishes Cry Apr 18, 2013
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong

Everyone knows the extensive menus in HK restaurants. Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe as the name goes is no difference. Food varieties are plenty but mostly fried ir instant noodles quality. But the price can be quite expensive compared to other restaurants like Swensens that gives a bigger portion at the same price. Nevertheless, we were dying for some late night snacks and Xin Wang was a convenient outlet. Tried the pork floss fried rice; let's just say it's rather forgettable. The milk tea was not too bad but for its price I expected better. Oh well.
