Sushi galore Smile Jul 31, 2013

Genki sushi has a wide variety of sushi and you'll be spoilt for choice. I have tried it previously and had a pleasant experience. This time, I went for the river eel handroll, which costs around $2.30 - nothing to complain about it but it was rather average; eel was well seasoned with teriyaki sauce. Other sushis like salmon belly and the one with beancurd skin was average. I liked the grilled salmon sushi; salmon slices were quite big. Sushi costs about $2.30 per plate, and also selected handrolls.

I was here for a drink with my friend from overseas, ambience was great, and you'll have a great view of the Singapore skyline. They have a vast selection of drinks and small bites as well. I settled on Fresh Beginnings - great name, great drink. It has lychee, apple and lime juice, and cane syrup in the mixture; indeed a very refreshing drink and wasn't too sweet, perhaps due to the lime juice.

We were craving for some crabs so we stopped by No Signboard, having their their zhi char dishes which were rather alright. Since they are famous for their white pepper crab, we had to order it - indeed, it was great, one of the best I have eaten; the peppery taste is very strong and the sauce wasn't too salty, goes very well with rice. On the other hand, I didn't quite like the chilli crab as the gravy wasn't good; can't put a word to it but it isn't as appetizing as any typical chilli crab. Crabs cost $60 per kg, and these 2 crabs cost $120 in total. Parking is by valet parking, costs $4.

Came back for lunch at sky on 57. The bread sampler was good with freshly baked bread. This time we went for the grilled sakura chicken with foie gras and mushrooms and leek. The foie gras was good and grilled perfectly and melted in your mouth. The grilled chicken was succulent and tender. The cheng tng was given a twist with chrysanthemum ice cream (or freeze) at the top. The jellies were very soft and was a refreshing dessert to be had.

Spending per head: Approximately $70(Lunch)

Xiao Long Bao Smile Jul 31, 2013

I guess these 2 dishes are the most-often ordered in Paradise Dynasty. I have tried their colouful xiao long baos some time ago, but still preferred the original one. I had the sliced pork la mian, which was good - chinese style ramen(?); the soup was very flavourful but not overly salty, and at around $10, pretty reasonably priced and portion was good. Like the egg as well.
