Sky on 57 Smile Jul 29, 2013

Sky on 57 is a well known establishment opened by celebrity chef Justin Quek. Clearly, it also boasted celebrity prices with each person paying around 70 dollars for a full 3 course set lunch. We had the potato soup with black truffle. This was fantastic. The black truffles taste was really strong. The potato soup was pretty smooth and very creamy. The hokkien noodles was given a twist with fresh lobster added to it instead of using prawns. A real standout given the freshness of the lobster and the wok-hei of the hokkien prawn noodles.

Rosti Smile Jul 24, 2013

I would always prefer Ambush over other food establishments as service is usually good, and they have a variety of food choices at reasonable prices. I really liked their rosti, which costs $7.50. It is crispy thin and pan fried till golden brown, and goes well with the sour cream sauce; good for 3 to share but it would surely be a favourite amongst everyone. I also had the salmon pasta with thai basil sauce, which costs $13+. Very appetizing and salmon is fresh.

Banana Earl Grey Tart Smile Jul 24, 2013

I passed by Kovan MRT and decided to drop by Lola's cafe and get some desserts. I ordered takeaway several Caramelized Banana Earl Grey Tarts, which costs $4.50 each. Quite pricey for the size of the tart which is rather small, but I do like it a lot having tried it once previously. The pistachios on top of the tart were crunchy, and I particularly like the slight earl grey taste, together with caramelized bananas.

Lychee Wood Duck Smile Jul 17, 2013

ChuDao is definitely on my recommended list of food places. I have tried a couple of dishes there and decided to try their Lychee Wood Barbecued Duck this time; we ordered the thigh meat, which was tender, and the skin wasn't too fatty and was very crispy, one of the better duck meats I've tried. But the dish I fell in love with was the Honshimeji Mushroom with Salted Pepper, which is an appetizer. I have eaten fried golden mushrooms before but not honshimeji mushrooms. Fried till crispy and very addictive. Bill totalled $20+ for 2 of us I think. They had a groupon promotion sometime back which my friend told me about; would definitely purchase it if there's a deal again.

Smores Pie Smile Jul 12, 2013

I have been to Wimbly Lu on previous occasions, so I tried something that I haven't tried so far, which is the rather popular S'more Pie, which costs $6. The combination of toasted marshmallows and chocolate ganache was great, coupled with the tart crust which was quite crumbly. I think this is one of the better desserts, compared to the root beer float cake and lava cake, but can be quite filling
