New Matcha McFlurry OK Oct 06, 2013
Categories : American | Fast Food | Ice Cream and Gelato | Burgers and Sandwiches | Kids-Friendly

As a fan of green tea the new matcha mcflurry caught my eye (I think it's limited, so do try it soon if you wish). Got one for myself at $2.80. They could be more generous with the amount of matcha powder added as the green tea taste was very slight; after a few mouthfuls there weren't any to go with the huge amount of vanilla ice cream left. Oreo bits go well with matcha though.

Spending per head: Approximately $3(Tea)

Bear Paw Buns OK Oct 06, 2013

Having read about their cute bear paw buns I specially made a trip down to try it. They have different flavoured buns for you to choose from (but there really isn't much difference): milk, brown sugar, squid ink, yam, and you can choose between chicken or fish and the sauce you want. Quite economical as it costs $7.80 for a set with fries and a bottled drink. They were having some fb promo so I got to upgrade to cheese fries, which were good. The bun is pretty average. I also tried their gelato bun - yam bun with salted biscuit gelato ($3.80); ice cream is below average. Overall cute buns, but I won't return specially for it.

Spending per head: Approximately $6(Tea)

Avoid the pizza OK Oct 05, 2013

I got to know Working Title from a Groupon deal, and decided to give it a try. We had tater tots ($5) - mini hashbrowns with truffle oil and grated parmesan cheese; this was good and the truffle taste distinct, and is inexpensive. My friend had their burger with a side of tortilla chips ($9): burger was quite small and the beef patty average. I had their Chicken Proscuitto New Yorker pizza ($16) - which has ham and onions; I didn't want onions on it but they said that the pizza was already pre-made, that perhaps sheds lights on why the pizza is not tasty at all - crust was limp and not crispy, toppings were mediocre; even frozen Dr Oetker pizza tastes better. They have lots of different imported beers. It might be a better idea to skip the mains and just go for drinks.

Spending per head: Approximately $10(Dinner)

Chill out Smile Oct 04, 2013

For starters we had the cereal calamari ($12) - this tastes different from your usual zi char cereal squid as it is tossed in a lemon grass oatmeal mix, and we particularly liked the lemon grass taste. We shared the beer battered fish and chips ($18) - overpriced and nothing to rave about; dory fish was your typical frozen dory fillet. We also had the Smoked Duck pizza ($18) - this was good, and the Hawaiian pizza ($16) - mediocre, we regretted not getting the seafood pizza. Portion was too much for 5 of us and we couldn't finish the hawaiian pizza. Ambience was good and they have live bands every night performing both chinese and english songs. A plus point is that every main dish (pizza, fish and chips) comes with a drink - choose from housepours, beer, wine).

Spending per head: Approximately $15(Dinner)

Good chinese cuisine Smile Oct 04, 2013

I attended a wedding some time back at Fullerton Hotel, and the chinese cuisine from Jade Restaurant. The first dish was a combination platter, with octopus, jellyfish, and some fried stuff like cuttlefish ball, quite an appetizing dish. The second was the abalone soup, wasn't too flavourful. Next we had the asparagus with scallops and mushrooms - the scallops were fresh and the whole dish wasn't salty or oily. The fish was very fresh and meat tender. Some dishes without photos are roast chicken, spinach with mushrooms. I liked the chestnut dessert which comes with sesame glutinous rice balls.
