Eggless Cakes OK Oct 04, 2013

I got these as a gift, but I think they costs around $2+ for one. These are eggless cakes, but I can't actually taste any difference compared to normal cream cakes. The flavours are strawberry, tiramisu, oreo chocolate, vanilla, chocolate and I think vanilla topped with dark chocolate flakes. I tried the oreo one, and I think it's the best out of the 6, chocolate wasn't too rich and overly sweet, and oreo bits enhanced the taste of the cake. The rest were rather mediocre.

Set Lunch OK Oct 04, 2013

Jack's Place offers set lunch until 2.30pm, and they have different dishes available every day (set lunch comes with drink and dessert). On the day I went it was the chicken chop with greens and mashed potato - a very average but filling dish, chicken wasn't very tender. I also topped up $2+ for the lobster bisque, was thick and creamy. They also have student meal which is very affordable at $7.90, with a soft drink and dessert. I chose the fish fingers, which were breaded dory, not exceptional but portion was good.

Spending per head: Approximately $13(Lunch)

Macarons Smile Oct 04, 2013   (Related Review)

Passed by TWG and was attracted by the many flavours of macarons available (10 in total). It's also surprisingly affordable at around $12 for a box of 6. I had the 1837 black tea & blackcurrant one (tea taste not distinct, had a very sweet berry taste); the Napolean Tea & Caramel (forgettable); the Earl Grey Fortune & Chocolate (earl grey taste distinct, masked by chocolatey taste), etc. The two I would recommend is the Moroccan Mint Tea if you like a slight minty taste, and also the Grand Wedding Tea, passion fruit & coconut (although I didn't really like the strong coconut after taste).

Recommended Dish(es):  Moroccan Mint Tea,Grand Wedding Tea,passion fruit & coconut Macaron

Spending per head: Approximately $12(Other)

Desserts OK Oct 04, 2013

I bought desserts home from this stall at changi village hawker which has all sorts of traditional desserts like ice kachang, etc. Many people were buying some longan red tea jelly dessert, hope to try it next time. I got the ice jelly with soursop - proportion of ice jelly and soursop bits was alright, and the ice was able to dilute the sweetness from the soursop puree. Ice cheng teng was also good, not overly sweet.

Spending per head: Approximately $2(Supper)

Sugar Cane Juice OK Oct 04, 2013

Categories : Hawker Centre | Kids-Friendly

I was very thirsty and craving for a drink to go with my hawker food, and decided on sugar cane juice - the perfect option which goes well with spicy and oily food. The sugar cane juice was not overly sweet and very refreshing - it costs around $1.50 for quite a huge cup and is good for 2 to share. The amount of ice added was just right and dilutes the juice a little so that it's less sweet.
