Great Cereal Squid Smile Oct 03, 2013

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Coffeeshop | Seafood | Zi Char

Brought my friends to this zi char place which is quite famous at Keong Saik road. We had the tofu topped with minced meat - large slabs of tofu which were soft, gravy wasn't too salty. Also had the veg with 3 kinds of eggs - liked the broth and it's not too oily. The fried chicken was tasty, but not exceptional. Lastly, we all loved the cereal squid - huge amount of fried cereal, and mixture with eggs and chilli padi was great.

Pandan Cake OK Oct 03, 2013

Pure Pandan sells many different flavours of pandan cakes, like banana walnut, D24 durian, green tea honey, original. I sampled the green tea honey one and didn't quite like the taste, so I bought the banana walnut ($1.70), original, and durian ($1.90). I liked the banana walnut one as there were crunchy walnut bits. The durian one was alright, durian taste wasn't very strong. Shop owner was very helpful.

Dim Sum OK Oct 03, 2013

I passed by Luk Yu and noticed that they have a dim sum promotion of 30% off from 3pm to 5pm, and went back to give it a try. You could specify the quantity of each dim sum you want, even 1, so you could try lots of it. The liu sha bao was mediocre, filling didn't flow. The fried mango & shrimp one was good, as well as the fried beancurd skin. Carrot cake was alright. I also got the abalone glutinous rice - do avoid this, the rice is too lumpy and moist.

Spending per head: Approximately $22(Tea)

Shots Bar OK Oct 03, 2013

This is a shots bar with a wide variety of flavours. Do go during their happy hour which is around 6pm to 9pm - beef sliders are at $6 for 3 - patty was alright and bun was toasted. There are also selected shots at $6 each. My favourite was After Eight - a strong minty taste and the concoction was sweet and good. We also tried their truffle fries - portion was very little although presentation was good with the fries served in shots glasses, costs $13.

Wanton Noodles OK Oct 03, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Desserts and Cakes

I ordered takeaway at Sheng Kee, a set of wanton noodles and a piece of yam cake; first time trying their cooked food as I've always had desserts there. The portion of noodles was quite little, but the wantons exceeded my expectations and were quite tasty. The yam cake was good as well, not too salty and you could taste the bits of dried shrimp added. The set came with almond paste as well, although the portion was too little.
