Gongcha Milk with Oolong Tea Smile May 24, 2013

Gong Cha Milk with Oolong Tea, and Konjac Jelly

I was blown away by how good the tea was. I finished every single drop of it within just a few minutes - by that, I mean I finished all the ice too. The tea was really unique, strong and fragrant on its own, but after I stirred to mix in the milk, the fragrance of the tea remained. I love how the konjac jelly tastes and feels like konniyaku jelly, which is one of my favourite dessert. The ice was a bonus - I love it that the ice were not in the form of solid cubes, but it was cylindrical, and surprisingly it had a very fluffy bite to it, which I really enjoy. I crushes and falls apart easily when I bite into it, which was what made it so enjoyable that I even finished the ice.

One of my favourite flavours in the entire menu!

Dory Baked Rice OK May 24, 2013   (Related Review)

I was rather impressed with Lenas on my first dining experience, so in no time I found myself grabbing a few other friends and returning a second time.

Pan fried Dory with cheese baked rice

This time round, the visit seems to be a little less than desired. The dory fish was juicy and tender but having a little more taste could save this dish. I love cheese, and having lots of it melted over my rice was awesome. But cheese and fish was mostly what I ate, because I found the rice to be a tad plain too. I didn't eat most of my rice.

Guess I'll stick to their Carbonara next time!

Prata OK May 24, 2013   (Related Review)

Categories : Indian | Food Court | Halal

Sometimes the prata here can be a tad too oily and the curry sauce can be a tad too spicy, but normally it is pretty acceptable. Whenever I don't feel like eating rice or noodles, I'd go with prata.

I like the prata with egg option because it is the most affordable yet filling at the same time. Usually 1 piece is enough for me. (the other 2 plain prata are not mine, they are just stacked together on the same plate) Egg also adds taste to the otherwise plain prata. Their standard is very normal, tastes just like any prata in any coffeeshop. If only they can fry their prata crispier, I'm sure it'll be more fragrant and less prone to being soggy so soon, and I'll like it better.

I usually pay some extra money for some meats in the curry sauce so that I can have a more balanced meal.

BBQ Pork Smile May 24, 2013

Categories : BBQ

I walked past Bee Cheng Hiang, took in a whiff of that BBQ pork smell. Before I knew it, I had a piece of Bee Cheng Hiang's famed BBQ Pork in my hands. Who says you can only eat this during Chinese New Year?!

Sliced BBQ Pork

I absolutely love Bee Cheng Hiang's BBQ Pork! It's sweet and savory at the same time, and I love the once-in-awhile charred ends for it adds fragrance to the pork. In particular, I appreciate that Bee Cheng Hiang's BBQ pork is juicy, unlike the dry versions from some other brands. I usually go for the sliced meat instead of the minced meat because there is some texture to the bite, and feels more "whole".

Fries galore! OK May 24, 2013
Categories : Fast Food | Burgers and Sandwiches

Before this, I never found out that EwF actually does serve a very appealing array of main courses. Regrettably I'd already settled my meal and only dropped in for fries. Afterall, I believe their fries should be of certain standard to be able to call themselves Everything with Fries!

Vanilla Milk Shake

The first sip was pretty good, but from the second sip onwards I didn't really like it because I found it too sweet and 'jelat'. While I understand that milk shakes are mostly sweet, I'm still clinging on to the hope that one day I'll be able to find one that can have me finish the whole cup and not complain about it being too sweet or too jelat.

Fries galore! Salt & Vinegar, and Sour Cream & Onion

I guess the Salt & Vinegar fries is more of an acquired taste since it the flavour is not very common in Singapore. It's also challenging to balance the flavour perfectly, because too salty and/or too sour would make one cringe (as a natural reaction to the flavours) but too much lesser would render the food bland. I find the fries pretty acceptable but I wasn't able to go beyond a few sticks.

Sour Cream & Onion is much better, because the elements are easier to balance, and is a more common flavour. I love Sour Cream & Onion potato chips, so there's nothing not to love about fries of the same flavour. I only wished they had been a little more generous with the seasoning and also mix it up evenly before serving. And for their fries to be more on the crispier side instead of the soggy side.

Will be back to try their main courses!
